Calibration Facility Location and Arrangment

The gamma-ray calibration facility is located at the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) headquarters site in Reston, Virginia. A regional map showing the area of the Dulles International Airport and Washington D.C. is available as a PDF file (100 Kb). Figure 1 shows a map of the USGS site with the location of the Physics Building indicated. Click here for driving instruction from Dulles or National Airports. Figure 2 is a schematic of the calibration facility with the locations of the pads indicated. The pads are laid out with the most radioactive pads farthest from the background pad (PB). The distances between the pads are approximately 7.6 m.
