Abstract:
The data consist of major- and minor-element concentrations for rock samples collected between 1993 and 1999 by the U.S. Geological Survey. Samples were analyzed by fire assay (Au), cold vapor atomic absorption spectroscopy (Hg), and the inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICPMS) 10 and 40 element methods. For details of sample preparation and analytical techniques see USGS Open File Report 96-525 (Analytical methods manual for the Mineral Resource Surveys Program, U.S. Geological Survey).
Purpose:
Data intended for use in evaluating mineral resource potential of the Sleetmute 1:250,000-scale quadrangle.

Fields contain descriptive sample information and analytical results for major- and trace-elements. Fields for descriptive elements of samples are relatively self explanatory, such as Field No (field number assigned to sample), Lab No (lab number assigned to sample), Job No (batch number assigned by USGS Sample Control), Lab (lab where sample analyzed), Latitude and Longitude (in decimal degrees), and Description (sample description). For analytical results fields include a two letter abbreviation for the element analyzed (Au for gold, Pb for lead, etc.), the units reported in percent (%) or parts per million (ppm), and suffix which indicates the analytical technique used to obtain those values. (ICP40) indicates analyses by ICP forty-element, (ICP10) indicates analyses by ICP ten-element, (FA) indicates analyses by fire assay, (CVAA) indicates analyses by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry, and (AA) indicates analyses by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Some analytical results in the data table are preceded by a symbol such as “<” or “N.” In these cases the value following the symbol represents the lower reporting limit. The “N” symbol indicates no signal was detected for that particular element. A “<” symbol indicates signal was detected but that any results obtained fell below the lower reporting limit.
