Data have been repositioned to the Michigan GeoRef coordinate system. Each image is a three band, natural color digital orthoimage acquired during the agricultural growing season of 2005 (June - August). This orthoimage meets horizontal National Map Accuracy Standards (NMAS) at a scale of 1:12,000 (+/- 33.33 feet). The tiling format (image extent) is based on a 3.75' x 3.75' quarter-quadrangle. NAIP specifications allow for as much as 10% cloud cover per tile. The 1-meter resolution Michigan Georef imagery is intended to serve as a GIS base map data source for the entire State of Michigan. A State of Michigan Partnership, the Michigan Aerial Imagery Partnership (MAIP), was organized to help provide matching funds to the NAIP program. Partners included The Land Policy Institute (LPI) and Remote Sensing & GIS Research and Outreach Services (RS&GIS) at Michigan State University, as well as the Michigan Departments of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), Natural Resources (MDNR), Transportation (MDOT), Labor and Economic Growth (DLEG), Agriculture (MDA), Michigan State Police (MSP) and the Center for Geographic Information (MCGI).Image tiles have been compressed at a ratio of 10:1 into an ECW compression format. This Enhanced Compression Wavelet format can compress an extremely large amount of image data into a relatively small compressed file with less loss of image quality than other methods. A plug-in may be required to view this data. Plug-ins are available at www.ermapper.com. File names are derived from the partitioning of the USGS 7.5' topographic quadrangle maps into four quadrants, corresponding to the area covered on each image. The name consists of the full quadrangle name, written as a single word, followed by the quadrant abbreviation NE, NW, SE, SW.en08/28/2005ground conditionIrregular789871.051785208795276.326737339285518.1744242278344.524775741789871.051785795276.051785278344.174424285518.174424Digital Georectified ImageGeoreferenced ImageCompressed ImageQuarter Quadrangle CenteredNAIPUSDA-FSA-APFO Aerial Photography Field OfficeUnited States Department of Agriculture (USDA)MICHIGANST. These Michigan Georef tiles are based on the quarter quadrangle location but contain overlapping data into neighboring quads. The maximum bounding rectangle around the DOQQ index polygons were used to extract the image for each quarter quadrangle. This technique was used to compensate for the tilt given to the quarter quadrangle when projected into Michigan Georef and to assure no black edges were present in the image. This approach produces a stair-step when multiple images are mosaicked together. Original images were in three different UTM zones and had to be seamed together in Michigan Georef. The UTM seams were inspected for black or 'no data' areas. None were found. All Michigan Georef tiles (entire state) were mosaicked together and inspected for missing quarter quadrangles (see Completeness Report). 2% of all tiles were inspected for inconsistencies such as missing data, projection problems, and color issues. None were found. The 2005 NAIP is missing the NEW BUFFALO WEST SW (4108610SW) quarter quadrangle in Berrien County, Michigan. The vendor to NAIP failed to deliver on that tile. It is possible to find tiles with more than 10% cloud cover in the 2005 NAIP. Unfortunately a complete list of those quarter quads was unavailable at the time the metadata was created. The positional accuracy for the digital data is tested by visual comparison to a data source with a higher order of accuracy.1:12000+- 33.333 ftUSDA-FSA-APFO Aerial Photography Field OfficeUnknownNational Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP) 20052005raster digital dataSalt Lake City, Utahhttp://www.fsa.usda.gov/FSA40000NAIP 2005USDA-FSA Aerial Photography Field Office200509152005 DOQQ tile indexvector digital data40000DOQQ tile indexOriginal NAIP 2005 digital ortho quarter quads (DOQQS) were aquired in UTM zones 15, 16, and 17 for the State of Michigan.
