Mineral Facilities of Northern and Central Eurasia (independent countries of the former Soviet Union) By Michael S. Baker/1, Nurudeen Elias/1, Eric Guzmán/1, and Yadira Soto-Viruet/2, 2010 1/ Contractor 2/ University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus This geospatial database has been approved for release and publication by the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Although this database has been subjected to rigorous review and is substantially complete, the USGS reserves the right to revise the data pursuant to further analysis and review. Furthermore, this database is released on condition that neither the USGS nor the United States Government may be held liable for any damages resulting from its authorized or unauthorized use. Any use of trade, product, or firm names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the United States Government. The database can be downloaded via the Web from http://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2010/1255. ArcGIS shapefiles (.shp) can be extracted from a zip-compressed file (nceura_shape.zip). This dataset was created in ArcGIS v.9.3 and should work in all subsequent versions of ArcGIS software, as well as in other open-source software that can support .shp file formats. Please see specific software guides for conversion between .shp files and other formats. If you do not have access to a GIS but wish to view and query the data spatially, download the shapefile package and open the .shp from ArcExplorer (free download from http://www.esri.com). Data can also be viewed as a spreadsheet from table 1 in Microsoft Excel 2007 format (see main product page for links for download). For printing table 1 is also available as an Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) file. In addition, the PDF file for the map sheet can be downloaded and paper copies printed. The large-format map sheet is larger than 36 x 36 inches and will require a large-format plotter. Alternatively you can employ screen capture software to copy only a portion of the map and maintain legibility This geospatial database consists of ArcGIS shapefiles contained in a zip archive. The compressed archive file contains the geospatial database files. See the list below. Please refer to the file NCEURA.txt for detailed metadata documentation for this geospatial database.
