  Readme for digital files to accompany Chapter 8 of USGS 
  Professional Paper 1769 by M.L. Coombs and others

  The following files are to accompany Chapter 8 of USGS 
  Professional Paper 1769, "Timing, Distribution, and 
  Volume of Proximal Products of the 2006 Eruption of 
  Augustine Volcano,"

  By M.L. Coombs, K.F. Bull, J.W. Vallance, D.J. Schneider, 
  E.E. Thoms, R.L. Wessels, and R.G. McGimsey. 

  All data files have accompanying metadata stored in both 
  xml and txt formats.


  p1769_ch08_readme.txt -- this file


  p1769_ch08_metadata.txt -- ASCII file summarizing the 
  geodatabase


  p1769_ch08_db.zip -- ArcMap personal geodatabase zip 
  package (includes .mdb, .style, and .mxd files)

     Coombs_and_others.mxd -- This is an ArcGIS file with 
     all the appropriate layers and styles for the plate. 
     Note the grouped layer "Map Units sorted by phase" 
     that lets the user turn off/on unit polygons of 
     different ages by using a definition query. Links 
     should remain active as we have used relative path 
     names to call up layers.

     Augustine2006.mdb -- Personal Geodatabase that stores 
     all of the vector data (linework, stations, unit 
     polygons, geographic names, topographic contours). See 
     metadata for more information 


  p1769_ch08_base_package.zip -- consists of  Base_data and 
  Photography folders

     Folder "Base_data" -- DEM and hillshade with 
     accompanying metadata

     Folder "Photography" -- Three commercially produced 
     orthophotos and accompanying metadata


  p1769_ch08_shape.zip -- Place names, contacts, unit 
  polygons, topographic contours, and geologic stations 
  saved as shapefiles. These are the same data in the 
  Augustine.mdb geodatabase. See metadata for more 
  information


  p1769_ch08_plate.pdf -- The map that was generated with 
  these data
