Figure 52. Photo shows some equipment used to drill cores in deep water. Hydraulic drill and 0.9-m-long (3-ft) core barrel are kept buoyant by an air bag partially inflated with air from the diver's scuba tank. The hoses are tethered to a compressor operated from a boat. Photo was taken at Davis Reef (Figs. 42B, 51B).
