aerial photograph looking east on 16 April 1980 at the Jalf Glacier, a "dying"
glacier on the West Coast between Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. The surface of
bare ice indicates that the snowline has risen completely above the glacier, and
no snow at all from recent winters has remained to contribute to the glacier balance.
