Most of those described in the literature are visible externally (e.g., ectromelia, brachydactyly, polydactyly, brachygnathia, kyphosis) (Ouellet et al. 1997. J. Wildlife Dis. 33:95-104). Internal malformations are less well known and seldom reported (Reeder et al. 1998. Environ. Health Persp. 106:261-266).
