Biochemical, isoenzyme, and serological data indicated that the epizootic was caused by a sorbitol-fermenting Serovar 2 strain of&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;i&gt;Yersinia ruckeri&lt;/i&gt;. In laboratory experiments the isolate was pathogenic for both brook trout (&lt;i&gt;Salvelinus fontinalis&lt;/i&gt;) and Atlantic salmon (&lt;i&gt;Salmo salar&lt;/i&gt;).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</dc:description>
