  <dc:description>The hypophosphorous acid-cuprous oxide deamination method on nitroanilines has been modified so that the nitro compounds which are formed are reduced in turn by cuprous oxide to the corresponding amines. Over-all yields of 55-65% are reported for three halogenated nitroanilines.</dc:description>
