  <dc:description>&lt;p&gt;The months of May and June were somewhat quiet, seismically speaking. There was one major earthquake (7.0-7.9) off the west coast of South Island, New Zealand. The most destructive earthquake during this reporting period was in southern Iran on June 11 which caused fatalities and extensive damage. Peru also experienced a destructive earthquake on June 22 which caused fatalities and damage.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;In the United States, a number of earthquakes were experienced, but none caused significant damage.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;</dc:description>
