George Plafker Bryan L. Isacks 1978 <p>The fifth conference in the continuing series under the Earthquake Hazard Reduction Program was held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on May 25- 27, 1978. Its theme was "Methodology for Defining Seismic Gaps and Soon-to-Break Seismic Gaps." One of the proposed strategies for acquiring critical data on earthquake prediction is to identify soon-to-break gaps and to deploy a variety of instruments in the expected epicentral region.
