  <dc:description>&lt;p&gt;As part of a continuing cooperative program between the U. S. Geological Survey and the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology to collect and chemically analyze representative samples of Montana coals, 50 coal and 2 carbonaceous shale samples were collected from the Anderson, Dietz 1 and Dietz 2 coal beds in the Paleocene Tongue River Member of the Fort Union Formation. These samples were collected at six locations in sections 9 and 15, T. 9 S., R. 40 E., section 26, T. 8 S., R. 39 E., and section 29, T. 9 S., R. 39 E., Big Horn County, Montana.&lt;/p&gt;</dc:description>
