<dc:description><p>Using observations by Raitt and Shor, Hess (1964) noted that there was a correlation of compressional wave velocity in the mantle with seismic profile direction, suggesting that seismic anisotropy existed over a broad area of the Pacific basin. This paper describes a system developed and used to look for the existence and extent of this seismic anisotropy.</p></dc:description>
