<dc:description>This report is the third in a series of 11 map sets decpicting hydrogeologic conditions in selected upstate New York aquifers. Geohydrologic data are compiled on seven maps at 1:24,000 scale. Together the maps provide a comprehensive overview of a major valley-fill aquifer in western Chemung County. Included are maps of surficial geology, geologic sections, soil-zone permeability, water-table altitude, aquifer thickness, estimated well yield, and land use. The maps are designed to enable the State to make decisions on waste-disposal plans that could adversely affect the aquifer and community water systems. (USGS)</dc:description>
