A first flush of constituent loads occurred for most constituents in the runoff from most rainfall simulations on the street surface; however, a first flush did not occur in the runoff from simulated rainfall on the pasture. The event mean concentrations of constituents in the runoff from simulated storms on the street surface were generally much smaller than the event mean concentrations of constituents in the runoff from an adjacent urban basin. \r\n\r\nAnalysis of the data from the rainfall simulations on a street surface indicates that intensity of rainfall and total rainfall are important variables determining constituent loads. Chloride concentrations ranged from 23 to 320 milligrams per liter; the median concentration was 70 milligrams per liter. Nitrogen concentrations ranged from less than 0.1 to 11.0 milligrams per liter; the median concentration was 3.7 milligrams per liter. Chloride concentrations in 6 samples and nitrogen concentrations in 3 samples equaled or exceeded the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency public drinking-water limits of 250 and 10 milligrams per liter, respectively.

Maps of the potentiometric surface of the Upper Floridan aquifer in west-central Florida are prepared semiannually by the U.S. Geological Survey. Maps for May and September show, respectively, the potentiometric surface of the normally expected annual low and high water level conditions. Potentiometric surface maps have been prepared for January 1964, May 1969, May 1971 to 1974, and for each May and September since 1975. The potentiometric surface of the Upper Floridan aquifer is shown for September 1987. Most of the water level data were collected by the U.S. Geological Survey during the period of September 14-18. The code (WATEQ4F) has been adapted to execute on an IBM PC or compatible microcomputer. Two versions of the code are available, one operating with IBM Professional FORTRAN and an 8087 or 89287 numeric coprocessor, and one which operates without a numeric coprocessor using Microsoft FORTRAN 77. The calculation procedure is identical to WATEQ2, which has been installed on many mainframes and minicomputers. Limited data base revisions include the addition of the following ions: AlHS04(++), BaS04, CaHS04(++), FeHS04(++), NaF, SrC03, and SrHCO3(+). This report provides the reactions and references for the data base revisions, instructions for program operation, and an explanation of the input and output files. Attachments contain sample output from three water analyses used as test cases and the complete FORTRAN source listing. U.S. Geological Survey geochemical simulation program PHREEQE and mass balance program BALANCE also have been adapted to execute on an IBM PC or compatible microcomputer with a numeric coprocessor and the IBM Professional FORTRAN compiler.
