The study also includes the adjacent coastal plain because it is a more accessible extension of the shelf. The total study area is about 324,000 sq km, of which the shelf and slope constitute about 181,000 sq km and the coastal plain constitutes 143,000 sq km. The shelf width ranges from about 30 km at Cape Hatteras to about 195 km off Raritan Bay and on Georges Bank. Analyses of bottom samples make if possible to construct a preliminary geologic map of the shelf and slope to a water depth of 2,000 m. The oldest beds cropping out in the submarine canyons and on the slope are of early Late Cretaceous age. Beds of Early Cretaceous and Jurassic age are present in deep wells onshore and probably are present beneath the shelf in the area of this study. Such beds are reported beneath the Scotian shelf on the northeast where they include limestone, salt, and anhydrite. Preliminary conclusions suggest a considerably thicker Mesozoic sedimentary sequence than has been described previously. Over the period of record, a pronounced change occurred in the diel (24 hr.) oxygen measurement, particularly during the months of July, August, and September. Annual variations of dissolved oxygen ranged from 3.6 to 15.0 mg liter<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>in 1964 and from 2.3 to 16.5 mg liter<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>in 1969 with percentage saturation varying from 60 to 130 percent in 1964 and from 30 to 184 percent in 1969. The magnitude of diel summer oxygen variation changed from about 3 to 7 mg liter<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>day<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>over the same period.</p><p>From hourly values of temperature, oxygen, and conductivity, gross primary production (GP) and respiration (R) were estimated. Data representing greatest daily change for spring, summer, and autumn of each year and “average” values for each month of years 1964 and 1969 were analyzed for GP and R. From the seasonal data, GP ranged from about 3 to 25 g O<sub>2</sub><span>&nbsp;</span>m<sup>−2</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>day<sup>−1</sup>, and R ranged from about 4 to 32 g O<sub>2</sub>m<sup>−2</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>day<sup>−1</sup>. In 1964, daily average GP was 5.2 g O<sub>2</sub>m<sup>−2</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>day<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>as compared to 6.1 in 1969, and respiration was 6.1 g O<sub>2</sub>m<sup>−2</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>day<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>in 1964 versus 10.2 g O<sub>2</sub>m<sup>−2</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>day<sup>−1</sup><span>&nbsp;</span>in 1969, increases of 20 and 16 percent, respectively. Ratios of GP/R averaged 0.84 in 1964 versus 0.60 in 1969, reflecting a larger respiration in 1969 and suggesting a trend towards community instability.</p><p>Productivity estimates by other investigators showed a two-to threefold increase in production over the same period of time. The community of Wrightwood is built on the coalesced fans of Sheep, Acorn and Heath Creeks, and the fan deposits are probably chiefly of mudflow origin. Historically, mudflows there have been observed in association with three climatic conditions: (1) short period of high-intensity rainfall during the summer dry season (thunderstorms); (2) periods of heavy rainfall during the October-March winter season, when most of the year's rain and snow fall; and (3) thaw of the winter snow pack. The mudflow activity associated with heavy rainfall has generally been of only a few hours or at most a few days duration. Mudflow activity associated with spring thaw has been of longer duration, as much as several weeks. At various times in the past, mudflows generated by all three conditions have inundated homes and highways in the Wrightwood area, which is now defended by a flood control levee system.</p><p>During May and June, 1969 the rapid melting of a heavy snow pack resulted in a 40-day period of mudflow activity in Heath Creek. All flows originated in the steep upper reaches of Heath Creek, where steep ravines are incised in the toe of a large active landslide. Direct observation by the authors showed that flows formed when small masses of debris fell or slid from the surface of the landslide mass into the steep channel. Some of the masses were fluid enough to continue downstream without interruption; others stopped in the channel until remobilized by added melt water or the passage of a mudflow from a higher altitude. Both processes resulted in discrete ‘slugs’ which continued down the steep ravine, through an allu-viated canyon, to a fan where most of the debris was deposited.</p><p>The activity may be described as a spring mudflow cycle, within which three stages were observed in a gradational sequence. A waxing stage began with sporadic short-duration mudflows, during which the lower alluviated canyon floor of Heath Creek was aggraded. A climactic stage of larger mudflows at more frequent intervals and of longer duration was characterized by the incision of a single, narrow, U-shaped channel in the alluviated canyon floor, and transportation of debris as much as 2 miles (3.2 km) from the source. A waning stage followed as meltwater supply decreased; short-duration flows backfilled the U-shaped channel and spilled over the banks, again aggrading the alluviated canyon floor.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"Geological Society Publishing House","doi":"10.1144/GSL.QJEG.1974.007.04.09","usgsCitation":"Morton, D.M., and Campbell, R.H., 1974, Spring mudflows at Wrightwood, Southern California: Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology, v. 7, no. 4, p. 377-384, https://doi.org/10.1144/GSL.QJEG.1974.007.04.09.","productDescription":"8 p.","startPage":"377","endPage":"384","costCenters":[{"id":312,"text":"Geology, Minerals, Energy, and Geophysics Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":374433,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"}],"country":"United States","state":"California","otherGeospatial":"Wrightwood","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -117.69927978515624,\n              34.31168124115256\n            ],\n            [\n              -117.5537109375,\n              34.31168124115256\n            ],\n            [\n              -117.5537109375,\n              34.40464357107094\n            ],\n            [\n              -117.69927978515624,\n              34.40464357107094\n            ],\n            [\n              -117.69927978515624,\n              34.31168124115256\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","volume":"7","issue":"4","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationDate":"2022-06-06","publicationStatus":"PW","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Morton, D. Very little information is available concerning the toxicity of these compounds to fish under laboratory test conditions or the differences in sensitivity to these chemicals at various life stages. This study was designed to 1) determine the toxicity of formalin, malachite green and the mixture to four life stages of rainbow trout (Salmo gairdneri) under various laboratory test conditions, 2) determine the degradation of formalin and malachite green in water, 3) determine the effect of additive toxicity, and 4) determine the differences in sensitivity of two different lots of eggs to the chemicals. The 96-hour LC50 (lethal concentration required to produce 50% mortality) for formalin against rainbow trout in soft water ranged from 580 micrograms/liter for the eyed egg stage to 134 micrograms/liter for the fingerling stage. The 96-hour LC50 for malachite green against rainbow trout in soft water ranged from 2.00 mg/L for the eyed egg stage to 0.0224 mg/L for the fingerling stage. The additive indices for formalin and malachite green when applied in combination show strictly additive toxicity as the ranges overlap zero in all tests. Concentrations of DOC were directly correlated with specific conductance and alkalinity, but did not correlate with pH. The DOC mean concentration was 1.2 mg/l; however, the DOC median value was lower at 0.7 mg/l. Differences in DOC concentration for various types of consolidated rock aquifers were slight; for example, median DOC values for sandstone, limestone, and crystalline rock aquifer types ranged from 0.5 to 0.7 mg/l. No difference was found in the median DOC concentration between shallow (&lt;200 ft; 61 m) and deep (&gt;200 ft) sand and gravel aquifers.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Use of this space for the storage and retrieval of potable water is a multifaceted problem which requires application of the best talent from the scientific community.</p><p>Artificial recharge has many similarities to liquidwaste disposal through deep wells. In both, the problem is to place liquid in a permeable lithologic unit at an economic rate, to predict movement and the chemical reactions and physical changes that take place while the liquid is in the reservoir. Differences between the two operations are principally in the type of fluid injected and the ultimate objective. In artificial recharge the objective is to store and retrieve water of good quality; in waste disposal the objective is to store permanently water of objectionable quality. In both artificial recharge and liquid-waste storage, the nature of the storage must be known, particularly that of the unsaturated zone. The techniques of investigation for recharge and waste disposal are generally the same.</p><p>Water commonly is recharged by surface spreading through basins or by induced recharge from adjacent streams and lakes or through injection wells. Research in recharge through basins has been dominated by mathematical models based on idealized conditions and empirical relations, derived by experimental sequencing of recharge operations, and operational controls in the pretreatment of recharge water. Recharge by injection wells has been undertaken in a variety of hydrologic environments. In Israel efforts have been directed toward the analyses of diffusion and dispersion of the injected water. Much research in the United States has been directed toward the movement of bacteria and organic matter through an aquifer and toward the chemical modeling of changes in recharged water as it moves.</p><p>Much more research is needed on the basic properties of aquifers, particularly in the unsaturated zone, and on all aspects of recharge-water quality. Research and the use of data produced are increasingly the responsibility of interdisciplinary teams which consider the geologic, hydraulic, and economic aspects of the system.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"National Groundwater Association","doi":"10.1111/j.1745-6584.1974.tb03015.x","usgsCitation":"Brown, R.F., and Signor, D., 1974, Artificial Recharge — State of the Art: Groundwater, v. 12, no. 3, p. 152-160, https://doi.org/10.1111/j.1745-6584.1974.tb03015.x.","productDescription":"9 p.","startPage":"152","endPage":"160","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":419505,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"}],"volume":"12","issue":"3","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationDate":"2006-07-06","publicationStatus":"PW","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Brown, R. Alternatively, if a single water phase exists in the aquifer, the complete analysis (including gases) of a sample collected from the aquifer by a downhole sampler is sufficient to determine the aquifer chemistry without a measured value of the enthalpy. The assumptions made are that the fluid is produced from a single aquifer and is homogeneous in enthalpy and chemical composition. The basic assumptions inherent in the methods are seldom stipulated. These assumptions include (1) a temperature-dependent reaction at depth, (2) a supply of the solid phase involved in the reaction to permit saturation of the constituent used for geothermometry, (3) water-rock equilibrium at depth, (4) negligible re-equilibration as the water flows to the surface, and (5) no dilution or mixing of hot and cold water. The first three assumptions are probably good for a few reactions that occur in many places. The last two assumptions probably are not valid for many hot-spring systems; information obtained is therefore for the shallower parts of those systems, or a limiting temperature (generally a minimum) is indicated. </p>","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","usgsCitation":"Fournier, R., White, D., and Truesdell, A.H., 1974, Geochemical indicators of subsurface temperature: Part 1, basic assumptions: Journal of Research of the U.S. Geological Survey, v. 2, no. 3, p. 259-262.","productDescription":"4 p.","startPage":"259","endPage":"262","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":402830,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"},{"id":402829,"rank":1,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/journal/1974/vol2issue3/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}}],"volume":"2","issue":"3","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Fournier, R.O.","contributorId":73584,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Fournier","given":"R.O.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":845542,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"White, D. The first group is observed at low dosages of activated carbon, contains the bulk of the total MBAS, and is readily adsorbable. Parameters showing the higher levels of significance were temperature, hardness of water, percentage of gravel bottom, percentage of bottom vegetation, variability of streamflow, and discharge per unit drainage area. Trout populations increase with lower levels of annual maximum water temperatures, with increase in water hardness, and with increase in percentage of gravel and bottom vegetation. Trout populations also increase with decrease in variability of streamflow, and with increase in discharge per unit drainage area. Most hydrologic parameters were significant when evaluated collectively, but no parameter, by itself, showed a high degree of correlation with trout populations in regression analyses that included all the streams sampled. Regression analyses of stream segments that were restricted to certain limits of hardness, temperature, or percentage of gravel bottom showed improvements in correlation. Analyses of trout populations, in pounds per acre and pounds per mile and hydrologic parameters resulted in regression equations from which trout populations could be estimated with standard errors of 89 and 84 per cent, respectively.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts, and Letters","publisherLocation":"Madison, WI","usgsCitation":"Hendrickson, G.E., and Known predation loss was 7.6 and 12.0 percent for mallards and wood ducks respectively, 60 percent occurred within 3 weeks of instrumentation. The highest predation rate for mallards was 0.0048 kills per tracking day and 0.0136 for wood ducks. A higher direct recovery rate for instrumented birds (19.5 percent) than noninstrumented birds (8.1 percent) was probably due to the novelty of the transmitter to hunters. Departure patterns and locations of direct recoveries were similar between radio-equipped and normal-banded birds. Among female wood ducks with radios, recovery rates were lower than expected. Hunters indicated that 84 percent of the instrumented ducks recovered were in good or excellent condition. Recaptures of ducks as long as 1 year after being equipped with radio packages indicated that feather wear and skin abrasion were not serious. A high rate for feeding on land by instrumented mallards was probably due to our ability to more easily locate and observe these birds in cover. Preening rates were higher for instrumented ducks. As the birds became adjusted to the package, preening decreased and feeding on water increased. Social and breeding behavior of instrumented ducks did not appear to be adversely affected by the radio package.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"Wiley","doi":"10.2307/3800730","usgsCitation":"Gilmer, D., Ball, I., Cowardin, L., and Riechmann, J.H., 1974, Effects of radio packages on wild ducks: Journal of Wildlife Management, v. 38, no. 2, p. 243-252, https://doi.org/10.2307/3800730.","productDescription":"10 p.","startPage":"243","endPage":"252","costCenters":[{"id":480,"text":"Northern Prairie Wildlife Research Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":133935,"rank":1,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"}],"country":"United States","state":"Minnesota","otherGeospatial":"Chippewa National Forest","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -94.81067795601568,\n              47.35790612339392\n            ],\n            [\n              -94.81067795601568,\n              46.96697371400404\n            ],\n            [\n              -93.92509802195744,\n              46.96697371400404\n            ],\n            [\n              -93.92509802195744,\n              47.35790612339392\n            ],\n            [\n              -94.81067795601568,\n              47.35790612339392\n            ]\n          ]\n        ],\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\"\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","volume":"38","issue":"2","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4a26e4b07f02db60f7cb","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Gilmer, D.S.","contributorId":22270,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Gilmer","given":"D.S.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":311465,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Ball, I.J.","contributorId":104427,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Ball","given":"I.J.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":311466,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2},{"text":"Cowardin, L.M.","contributorId":106435,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Cowardin","given":"L.M.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":311467,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":3},{"text":"Riechmann, J. The objectives of this study were to determine the extent and magnitude of the problem as a whole, and to gain a greater understanding of the processes and their potential ramifications by detailed definition of problems in specific areas. In order to accomplish these objectives, a three-pronged approach was devised to include: (1) a reconnaissance of the entire State to locate problem areas, (2) the detailed study of selected problem areas on a short-term basis, and (3) the monitoring of selected problem areas on a long-term basis.</p><p>This report summarizes the results of the reconnaissance phase. It describes some basic physical, chemical, and biological water-quality characteristics of the streams, discusses observed effects of mine drainage on the surface-water environment, delineates problem areas, and provides a list of streams where intensive study and subsequent monitoring might provide further insight into the various problems encountered.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"Colorado Water Conservation Board","publisherLocation":"Denver, Colorado","collaboration":"Prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation In the past, towns such as Cripple Creek, Leadville, Creede, and many others were the lifeblood of the economy. While metal mining is still economically important to Colorado, another legacy of this past activity is attracting increasing attention—the detrimental effects of drainage from abandoned and active mines and tailings piles (waste rock piles) on streams. Concern with metal-mine drainage is due to the acid resulting from oxidation of pyritic material. The acid itself can be harmful to aquatic organisms, and can make the water unusable for various recreational and industrial needs. Just as importantly, however, the acid dissolves metals from ores and tailings piles and releases them into the streams. Many of the metals are toxic to aquatic organisms, humans, and livestock; and, like excess acidity, the metals can make streams unusable for some types of recreation and industry.</p><p>In July 1971, a study of the effects of both metal- and coal-mine drainage on surface-water quality in Colorado was undertaken by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Colorado Water Pollution Control Commission. Based on the reconnaissance phase of this project (Wentz, 1974), 17 areas judged to be adversely affected by metal-mine drainage were chosen for further study. One additional area was included because it is the only place found in Colorado that potentially could be affected by coal-mine drainage. The present report summarizes the intensive study of these areas; it is the second product of the mine-drainage study. The first report was published as Colorado Water Resources Circular 21.</p>","language":"English","publisher":"Colorado Water Conservation Board","publisherLocation":"Denver, Colorado","collaboration":"Prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Colorado Water Pollution Control Commission","usgsCitation":"Moran, R.E., and Wentz, D.A., 1974, Effects of metal-mine drainage on water quality in selected areas of Colorado, 1972-73: Colorado Water Resources Circular 25, vi, 250 p. .","productDescription":"vi, 250 p. The ground-water discharge of the basin is about 85 percent of the total discharge, in contrast with less than 70 percent of the total discharge in two small basins underlain by igneous and mctamorphic rocks in the Maryland Piedmont. Large quantities of ground water are stored in a thick residual mantle, which overlies the carbonate rocks in the valley and adjacent rnetamorphic rocks in mountain areas on the east edge of the basin. Streams that flow off the mountain areas are major sources of recharge to the carbonate-rock aquifers. Several streams lose a large part of their flow within a mile after reaching the carbonate rocks in the valley, and a few flow directly into swallow holes (sinkholes). The low density of perennial streams in the basin is a result of subsurface drainage through solution cavities along joints, faults, and bedding in the carbonate rocks. The major orientations of straight stream reaches along Antietam Creek and the strikes of major joint sets in quarries are nearly coincident, suggesting that the stream network throughout the basin is joint controlled. </p>","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","usgsCitation":"Nutter, L.J., 1974, Hydrogeology of Antietam Creek basin: Journal of Research of the U.S. Geological Survey, v. 2, no. 2, p. 249-252.","productDescription":"4 p.","startPage":"249","endPage":"252","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":402700,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"},{"id":402699,"rank":1,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/journal/1974/vol2issue2/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}}],"country":"United States","state":"Maryland, Pennsylvania","otherGeospatial":"Antietam Creek basin","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -77.69805908203125,\n              39.403305486149264\n            ],\n            [\n              -77.54287719726562,\n              39.77265852521458\n            ],\n            [\n              -77.59368896484375,\n              39.85915479295669\n            ],\n            [\n              -77.70355224609375,\n              39.7240885773337\n            ],\n            [\n              -77.79556274414061,\n              39.53158493558714\n            ],\n            [\n              -77.7227783203125,\n              39.39693836884292\n            ],\n            [\n              -77.69805908203125,\n              39.403305486149264\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","volume":"2","issue":"2","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Nutter, Larry J.","contributorId":292648,"corporation":false,"usgs":false,"family":"Nutter","given":"Larry","email":"","middleInitial":"J.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":845388,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1}]}}

Such a basalt layer may well have been impervious and extensive enough to seal off underlying (fossil) seawater of Paleocene age. However, except for a marked increase in calcium and a slight increase in chloride, no appreciable changes in pore fluid chemistry could be confirmed. Site 217, at the northernmost end of the Ninetyeast Ridge, demonstrated record concentrations of interstitial calcium in clayey nannofossil oozes and a relatively small but significant increment in chloride with depth. Presumably, these increments signal the existence of evaporitic sediments or evaporite-influenced brines at considerably greater depth than penetrated.","largerWorkType":{"id":2,"text":"Article"},"largerWorkTitle":"Initial reports of the Deep Sea Drilling Project","largerWorkSubtype":{"id":10,"text":"Journal Article"},"language":"English","publisher":"Integrated Ocean Drilling Program Management International","publisherLocation":"College Station, TX","doi":"10.2973/dsdp.proc.22.131.1974","usgsCitation":"Manheim, F., Waterman, L.S., and Sayles, F.L., 1974, Interstitial water studies on small core samples, Leg 22: Initial reports of the Deep Sea Drilling Project, v. 22, p. 657-662, https://doi.org/10.2973/dsdp.proc.22.131.1974.","productDescription":"6 p.","startPage":"657","endPage":"662","costCenters":[{"id":186,"text":"Coastal and Marine Geology Program","active":true,"usgs":true},{"id":678,"text":"Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":488237,"rank":0,"type":{"id":40,"text":"Open Access Publisher Index Page"},"url":"http://doi.org/10.2973/dsdp.proc.22.131.1974","text":"Publisher Index Page"},{"id":292717,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"},{"id":292716,"type":{"id":15,"text":"Index Page"},"url":"https://www.deepseadrilling.org/22/dsdp_toc.htm"},{"id":292715,"type":{"id":10,"text":"Digital Object Identifier"},"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.2973/dsdp.proc.22.131.1974"}],"otherGeospatial":"Indian Ocean","geographicExtents":"{ \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\", \"features\": [ { \"type\": \"Feature\", \"properties\": {}, \"geometry\": { \"type\": \"Polygon\", \"coordinates\": [ [ [ 20.0,-71.4 ], [ 20.0,10.4 ], [ 147.5,10.4 ], [ 147.5,-71.4 ], [ 20.0,-71.4 ] ] ] } } ] }","volume":"22","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"53f5b655e4b09d12e0e8e6ea","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Manheim, Frank T. 0000-0003-4005-4524","orcid":"https://orcid.org/0000-0003-4005-4524","contributorId":45294,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Manheim","given":"Frank T.","affiliations":[{"id":678,"text":"Woods Hole Coastal and Marine Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"preferred":false,"id":498948,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Waterman, Lee S.","contributorId":30151,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Waterman","given":"Lee","email":"","middleInitial":"S.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":498947,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2},{"text":"Sayles, Frederick L.","contributorId":96778,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Sayles","given":"Frederick","email":"","middleInitial":"L.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":498949,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":3}]}}
