The\nNooksack basin lies largely within the Mt. Baker National Forest\nand a considerable area of public lands will be involved\nin any plan for the ultimate development of its water power.\nSurveys on a scale of 1:24,000 and 1:31,680 were made from the\nmouth of the Nooksack River upstream to include such stretches\nof ell streams in the basin as appear to have sufficient flow\nand head or storage possibilities to attract future power development.\nA dam site on the main stream and one on South Fork\nwere mapped on a scale of 400 feet to the inch. A dam site on\nthe main stream near Deming was mapped in 1938 by the U.S. Engineers.\nAreas within the basin not covered by these surveys\nare largely shown on quadrangle maps, The lower basin has been\nmapped on a scale of one inch to the mile, and the upper basin\non a scale of one quarter inch to the mile (Mt. Baker district).\nThese surveys and a brief record of discharge on the principal \nstreams of the basin together with a general reconnaissance\nform the basis of this report. The field was extended later during the period 1918 to 1922. The principal producing horizon is the Bartlesville sand, found at an average depth of 1,150 feet. To January 1, 1944, the Bartlesville sand has produced 7,566,000 barrels of oil from 5,610 productive acres and 871 oil wells. Peak production, averaging 2,025 barrels per day for the year, was attained in the year 1910. The accumulation of oil in the Bartlesville sand is not related to structure.</p>\n<br/>\n<p>The total recovery from the Bartlesville sand in the Hogshooter field to January 1, 1944, is estimated to represent 10.3 per cent of the original oil in place, and the total residual oil is estimated to average 11,776 barrels per acre. Widespread application of vacuum, started in 1915, has had little beneficial effect on production. College, Engineering Experiment Station and Department of Chemistry.\nFrom September to December, 1944, three hundred and fifteen samples were obtained at eighty-four points where gages are maintained for measurement of discharge. Daily samples were collected at six stations, namely:</p>\n<br/>\n<p>Illinois River near Gore, Oklahoma<br/>\nCimarron River near Oilton, Oklahoma<br/>\nCanadian River near Whitefield, Oklahoma<br/>\nWashita River near Durwood, Oklahoma<br/>\nRed River near Gainesville, Texas<br/>\nRed River at Denison Dam, Texas </p>\n<br/>\n<p>Sport samples were collected at the remainder of the stations. The analyses of the spot samples were made largely in a laboratory provided by the Oklahoma A. & M. College, under the supervision of Dr. O.M. Smith, Head, Department of Chemistry; Dr. S.R. Wood, Associate Professor of Chemistry; and W.W. Hastings, U.S. Geological Survey. The daily samples were analyzed in the water resources laboratory of the Geological Survey at Austin, Texas. These data have been summarized in a report to the Oklahoma Planning and Resources Board prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey, March 1, 1945.</p>\n<br/>\n<p>The streams of Oklahoma are classified into two major drainage basins: the Arkansas River and the Red River and their tributaries. The attached analyses are arranged in geographical order for their respective drainage basins, with records listed in downstream order for stations on the main stem first, followed by the analyses for the tributaries.
