It is about 16 miles by water southeasterly from Ketchikan, the nearest port. Moth Bay is locally known as Maiden Bay. The zinc-copper deposits are about three-fifths of a mile north of the head of the bay, at altitudes ranging from 250 feet to 500 feet, and are accessible by a good trail from the bay. The deposits are near the southern end of a low northward-trending ridge which rises above a broad, swampy, lake-dotted muskeg. The muskeg is bordered on the east and west by smoothly rounded, densely wooded hills up to 2,300 feet high. Vegetation and glacial till cloak most of the surface and rock exposures are rare. Small timber and fresh water are available. D. Robinson of the Geological Survey, U. S. Department of the Interior. The workings were mapped on a scale of 1 inch to 10 feet, and contoured on an interval of 10 feet. As a field setting for the prospect area, the southern part of the peninsula was mapped on a scale of 2 inches to 1 mile.</p><p>The Caamano Point deposit is near the southern tip of the Cleveland Peninsula, southeastern Alaska, 16 miles by water northwest of Ketchikan, the nearest port (see fig. I). The deposit is one-half mile northwest. of the small bay on the- east side of Caamano Point, at an elevation of 140 feet, and is accessible by a good trail from the bay. The Gealogical Survey interpreted the geologic features of the deposits as revealed by the work of the Bureau of Mines. The explorations were made largely by diamond‐drilling.
