These data were collected as part of a study to determine the geochemical controls on the mobility of arsenic and other trace elements in shallow groundwater systems. The main study area is approximately 7 miles south of Fallon. A subsidiary study area is about 8 miles east of Fallon. The data collected include lithologic logs and water level altitudes for the augered sampling wells and piezometers, and determinations of arsenic and selenium content, grain size, porosity, hydraulic conductivity, and mineralogy for sediment samples from cores. Well MRN 77 (Marion 77) was drilled to a depth of 365 ft and was used as an observation well in the Black Creek aquifer and to supply water during drilling of the deeper well. MRN 78 (Marion 78) was drilled and cored through the entire thickness of Coastal Plain sediments into the underlying basement rock to a depth of 1,225 ft. Data from the wells include description of the core samples from MRN 78, geophysical logs, zone water levels, chemical analysis of the water sampled and results of tests for mineral content. Head in MRN 78 increases with depth. The waters sampled were all sodium bicarbonate type except for the deepest zone (1,120-1,140 ft) sampled in MRN 78, which yielded a sodium chloride type water. Volume 3B: Southwest Florida - surface water","docAbstract":"<p>Water resources data for the 1984 water year in Florida consist of continuous or daily discharge for 251 streams, periodic discharge for 32 streams, miscellaneous discharge for 43 streams, continuous or daily stage for 92 streams, periodic stage for 31 streams, peak discharge for 60 streams and peak stage for 37 streams; continuous or daily elevations for 73 lakes, periodic elevations for 82 lakes; continuous ground-water levels for 467 wells, periodic ground-water levels for 539 wells, and miscellaneous water-level measurements for 2,039 wells; quality-of-water data for 200 surface-water sites and 596 wells.</p><p>The data for southwest Florida include continuous or daily discharge for 81 streams, periodic discharge for 15 streams, miscellaneous discharge for 14 streams, peak discharge for 20 streams, continuous or daily stage for 31 streams; continuous elevations for 30 lakes and periodic elevations for 43 lakes; continuous ground-water levels for 231 wells, periodic ground-water levels for 199 wells, and miscellaneous water-level measurements for 799 wells; quality of water for 117 surface-water sites and 289 wells.</p><p>These data represent the National Water Data System records collected by the U. S.
