The maps were prepared using data from previously established reports, data collected by other Federal, State, and local agencies, and data from the files of the U.S. Geological Survey offices in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah. Because of the rapidly increasing demand for the limited supply of water for irrigation, additional geologic and hydrologic data are needed for management of ground-water resources. This report presents general information on the availability of ground water, on the chemical quality of water, and on streamflow. In addition, new data were collected from areas where available information was scarce and where there is important water use.
