S. Geological Survey (USGS) mineral exploration and training project, for the purpose of increasing the known mineral reserves. Geologic mapping of the mine area indicates that hematite is restricted to argillized, silicified, and pyritized dacite and possibly andesite. Hematite is present as massive replacements, impregnations, disseminations, and fracture fillings. Most of the upper part of the iron deposit consists of a breccia composed mostly of silicifiled dacite fragments in a hematite matrix. The iron deposit was apparently formed in three steps: \r\n\r\n1. Argillation, silicification, and pyritization of the andesitic lava and dacite units as a result of a regional intrusion. \r\n2. Intrusion of the Dere Oren dacite stock, with associated faulting, fracturing, and breccia formation at the surface. \r\n3. Deposition of hematite by oxidation of pyrite, and transfer of iron via fractures and faults by hydrothermal or meteoric fluids.\r\n\r\nThe Eymir iron deposit is a blanketlike deposit on the crest of the Sivritepe-Eymir ridge. It is 1300 meters long, 80 to 450 meters wide, and has an average thickness of 18.6 meters. Drill holes in the deposit show the iron content to range from 32.0 to 57.6 percent, and to average 46.5 percent. Most of the gangue is silica, and an arsenic impurity averaging 0.39 percent is present. Most of the deposit cannot be utilized as iron ore because of low iron content, high silica content, and high arsenic content. \r\n\r\nOre-dressing tests have shown that it is feasible to concentrate the low-grade material, producing a concentrate having increased iron content and reduced silica content. Tests have shown also that the arsenic content of the ore can be reduced substantially by sintering. Further tests and economic feasibility studies are necessary to determine whether an economic marketable iron ore can be produced. If such studies indicate the technical and economic feasibility of utilizing all the Eymir iron deposit, detailed additional studies are recommended including: \r\n\r\n1. A detailed drilling and sampling program to include 60 drill holes averaging 40 meters in depth and detailed sampling of mine dumps. \r\n2. Pilot-plant testing of concentration and sintering procedures. \r\n3. A detailed pre-investment economic feasibility study.","language":"ENGLISH","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey],","doi":"10.3133/ofr72189","usgsCitation":"Jacobson, H.S., and Turet, E., 1972, Geology of the Eymir iron mine, Edremit, Turkey: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 72-189, ii, 14 leaves :ill., maps ;27 cm.; 2 sheets, https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr72189.","productDescription":"ii, 14 leaves :ill., maps ;27 cm.; 2 sheets","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":144486,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0189/report-thumb.jpg"},{"id":42964,"rank":400,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0189/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":42965,"rank":401,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0189/plate-2.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":42966,"rank":300,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0189/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}}],"noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4b24e4b07f02db6ae4a3","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Jacobson, Herbert Samuel","contributorId":87552,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Jacobson","given":"Herbert","email":"","middleInitial":"Samuel","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169212,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Turet, Erdogan","contributorId":27061,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Turet","given":"Erdogan","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169211,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

The area examine is shown by the distribution of sample localities on the accompanying map. No mineral deposits of economic interest were seen.\r\n\r\nThe terrain is one of broad plains and low hills that extend westward from the base of a prominent erosional scarp which forms the western edge of the Arabian Plateau. Streams cutting headward into the low-dipping massive sandstone of the Plateau have carved deep canyongs with vertical walls, and outliers of the sandstone are preserved as buttes and erosional forms of varied shapes.\r\n\r\nThere are no permanent settlements in the mapped areas. The one road leads up a tributary of Wadi Qaraqir to some date gardens at the base of the sandstone cliffs. A well-travelled caravan route crosses the passes at Al Khuraytah to reach the Plateau H. St. John Philby strongly recommended that a road be constructed through these passes to provide direct access from Tabuk to the Red Sea coast.\r\n\r\nBurton (1878) was probably the first European to visit the area. He was searching for mineral deposits and he also located some Nabatcan ruins. Philby in company with R. G. Bogue, U. S. Geological Survey, explored the scarp in the Wadi Qaraqir valley and drove northwestward to Al Khuraytah pass. The geology of the Wadi Qaraqir quadrangle shown on the geologic map of the Northwestern Hijaz (Brown and others, 1963) was compiled from Bogue's work.\r\n\r\nOur work consisted of making traverses around the hilly area and up accessible wadis. We examined the rocks along the traverse routes and visited target areas that had been selected by examination of aerial photographs. Samples of wadi sediment were collected from fault zones, granite contacts, and areas that showed some evidence of hydrothermal alteration.\r\n\r\nThe work was made possible by the cooperation fo the officials of the Directorate General of Mineral Resources, Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, who arranged for vehicles and accompanying personnel. We did not have a counterpart Saudi geologist for this portion of our trip.","language":"ENGLISH","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey],","doi":"10.3133/ofr72196","usgsCitation":"Johnson, R.F., and Trent, V.A., 1972, Mineral reconnaissance of the southern part of the Wadi Qaraqir quadrangle, Saudi Arabia: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 72-196, i, 4 leaves :folded col. map ;27 cm., https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr72196.","productDescription":"i, 4 leaves :folded col. map ;27 cm.","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":147662,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0196/report-thumb.jpg"},{"id":43025,"rank":400,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0196/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":43026,"rank":401,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0196/plate-2.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":43027,"rank":300,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0196/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}}],"geographicExtents":"{ \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\", \"features\": [ { \"type\": \"Feature\", \"properties\": {}, \"geometry\": { \"type\": \"Polygon\", \"coordinates\": [ [ [ 36,27.5 ], [ 36,28 ], [ 36.5,28 ], [ 36.5,27.5 ], [ 36,27.5 ] ] ] } } ] }","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4a80e4b07f02db649869","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Johnson, Robert Francis","contributorId":8864,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Johnson","given":"Robert","email":"","middleInitial":"Francis","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169307,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Trent, Virgil A.","contributorId":47381,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Trent","given":"Virgil","email":"","middleInitial":"A.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169308,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

Data on the quality of surface water (chemical, temperature, and sediment) were collected from designated sampling sites at predetermined intervals such as once-daily, weekly, monthly or less frequently, and at some sites data were recorded on punched paper tape at 60-minute intervals. Records are given for 371 sampling stations, of which 41 are continuous-record stations, 24 are partial-record stations, and 306 are miscellaneous sites. Records of chemical analyses also are given for 260 ground-water sites. Locations of surface-water quality stations are shown in Figures 3 and 4. The records were collected by the Water Resources Division of the U.S. Geological Survey under the direction of T. R. Cummings, district chief, and John J. Molloy, district chief, Water Resources Division, Columbus, Ohio. These data represent that portion of the National Water Data System collected by the U.S. Geological Survey and cooperating State and Federal agencies in Michigan.</p><p>The Geological Survey has published records of chemical quality, water temperatures, and sediment since 1941 in an annual series of water-supply papers entitled, \"Quality of Surface Waters of the United States.\" Beginning with the 1964 water year, water-quality records have been released by the Geological Survey in annual reports on a State-boundary basis. Highly anomalous metal contents are found in stream sediment, soil, and outcrop samples collected within this area. The area is underlain by intrusive granodiorite to quartz diorite that has porphyritic and granitoid phases. Most of the outcrop samples contain disseminated pyrite, chalcopyrite, and bornite. \r\n\r\nA geochemical reconnaissance sampling program in the Western Cordillera, formulated by Andros Jimeno V., Director, Instituto National de Investigaciones Geologico-Mineras (INGEOMINAS), and Earl M. Irving, U. S. Geological Survey (USGS) Chief of Party in Colombia, was carried out from 1969 to 1971 by geologists of the INGEOMINAS office in Medellin. This work was part of a cooperative program of INGEOMINAS and the USGS sponsored by the Government of Colombia and the Agency for International Development, U. S. Department of State. \r\n\r\nSeventeen generally east-trending traverses were completed across the Western Cordillera. These traverses, generally paralleling major drainages, cross the range at intervals of 10 to 30 km.","language":"ENGLISH","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey],","doi":"10.3133/ofr724","usgsCitation":"Alminas, H.V., and Mosier, E.L., 1972, A geochemical study of the Rio Pantanos area, Department of Antioquia, Colombia preliminary report: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 72-4, iv, 34 leaves :ill., maps ;28 cm., https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr724.","productDescription":"iv, 34 leaves :ill., maps ;28 cm.","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":144878,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/report-thumb.jpg"},{"id":40672,"rank":400,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":40673,"rank":401,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/plate-2.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":40674,"rank":402,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/plate-3.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":40675,"rank":403,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/plate-4.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":40676,"rank":404,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/plate-5.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":40677,"rank":300,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0004/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}}],"noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4b24e4b07f02db6ae6db","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Alminas, Henry V.","contributorId":59783,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Alminas","given":"Henry","email":"","middleInitial":"V.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":166127,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Mosier, Elwin L.","contributorId":70374,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Mosier","given":"Elwin","email":"","middleInitial":"L.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":166128,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

This report reviews results obtained from August 1967 to January 1, 1968, through aeromagnetic interpretation and field investigations in four of the areas (Areas 2, 3,4, and 5).\r\n\r\nAeromagnetic interpretation identified 27 prominent anomalies, 17 of which were checked in the field. The majority of these anomalies were found to be caused by minor amounts of magnetite in igneous rocks, including granite stocks, mafic flows, and mafic dikes. Other anomalies are caused by magnetite in metamorphic rocks or by topographic effects. However, massive magnetite boulders were observed in three adjoining localities (Anomalies E2, E3, and E4, fig. 2) in area 2, and magnetite partly replacing a limestone boulder was found in area 3 (Anomaly CK3, fig. 3). Further study of these magnetite exposures is planned.\r\n\r\nIn addition, two iron prospects and one lead prospect were briefly examined. All the prospects were considered small and not worthy of further study at this time.","language":"ENGLISH","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey],","doi":"10.3133/ofr72187","usgsCitation":"Jacobson, H.S., Ozelci, F., Yazgan, D., Hatay, N., and Karahacioglu, H., 1972, Aeromagnetic interpretation and mineral investigations in the Ezine, Canakkale-Karabiga, Marmara, and Kapidag areas of northwestern Turkey: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 72-187, i, 13 leaves :maps (some folded) ;27 cm., https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr72187.","productDescription":"i, 13 leaves :maps (some folded) ;27 cm.","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":144466,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0187/report-thumb.jpg"},{"id":42961,"rank":400,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0187/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":42962,"rank":401,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0187/plate-2.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":42963,"rank":300,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0187/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}}],"noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4b00e4b07f02db6983a0","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Jacobson, Herbert Samuel","contributorId":87552,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Jacobson","given":"Herbert","email":"","middleInitial":"Samuel","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169209,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Ozelci, F.","contributorId":22364,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Ozelci","given":"F.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169207,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2},{"text":"Yazgan, Durmaz","contributorId":16417,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Yazgan","given":"Durmaz","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169206,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":3},{"text":"Hatay, N.","contributorId":70768,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Hatay","given":"N.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169208,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":4},{"text":"Karahacioglu, Hamit","contributorId":96268,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Karahacioglu","given":"Hamit","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":169210,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":5}]}}

S. Geological Survey (USGS) Mineral Exploration and Training Project, Subproject 2. Subproject 2 is concerned with aeromagnetic interpretation of MTA's aeromagnetic surveys, and ground investigations of selected aeromagnetic anomalies. This report includes new aeromagnetic maps for the Bolu, Canakkale-Karabiga, Demirkoy, and Orhaneli areas and reviews ground investigations in five areas. Activities for each area are sunmarized below: \r\n1. Bolu area: The aeromagnetic map shows two belts of anomalies related to regional magnetite-bearing formations and a group of discrete anomalies, some of which may reflect significant concentrations of magnetite. To date three of these anomalies have been checked on the ground and at one a metamorphic rock containing 14 percent magnetite was observed. \r\n2. Canakkale-Karabiga area: Ground checks were made of six aeromagnetic anomalies. At one locality (Cakirly-Koyu) 6 km south of Nazmara Sea a small magnetite deposit was found. The magnetic anomaly over the area is 150 meters long, and about 3 meters deep in the center of the anomaly exposed massive magnetite boulders. \r\n3. Demirkoy area: The aeromagnetic map shows only one significant anomaly which was checked on the ground and found to be caused by minor magnetite at an intrusive contact. \r\n4. Ezine area: A ground survey of 4.5 sq km area was made where magnetite boulders are locally present on the surface. No significant magnetic anomaly or iron mineralization were found. \r\n5. Orhaneli area: The aeromagnetic map o# the area showed regional magnetic anomaly patterns related to magnetite in mafic intrusives, ultramafic rocks, and mafic flow rocks. In addition 16 localized anomalies were identified. The older Precambrian Halaban cycle produced the thick eugeosynclinal suite of interlayered metasedimentary and metavolcanic rocks comprising the Halaban Formation, the numerous synorogenic granitic masses which intrude the layered rocks, and the northward-trending tectonic, plutonic, and metamorphic features of all these rocks which constitute the basic grain of the area. The older Halaban features are everywhere strongly transected, but only slightly deformed and offset, by many eastward-northeastward-, and northwestward-striking fractures and strike-slip faults. Silicic dikes are emplaced in these fractures, and several kinds of barren and metalliferous veins are closely associated with them. All these features are here thought to have formed during a period of deformation of late Precambrian age which produced the Najd Wrench Fault Zone; therefore, these features are named for it. Sporadic remnants of once far more extensive basaltic lava fields and the north-northwestward-striking vertical fractures which occur in them and contain volcanic vents from which they were extruded are the youngest rocks and structures in the Wadi an Nuqumi area. They are thought to have formed during the period of tectonic and volcanic activity which also produced the Red Sea graben. \r\n\r\nThe principal mineral deposits of the Wadi an Nuqumi area are silicified-carbonate breccia veins which occur in structures of the Najd Wrench Fault deformation and metalliferous quartz veins which are closely associated with them. Only the latter possesses any economic potential, the most promising being the gold and silver-bearing quartz-base metal veins of the Al Numrahniyah and Muthaheel ancient mines.","language":"ENGLISH","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey],","doi":"10.3133/ofr72176","usgsCitation":"Hummel, C.L., 1972, Geology and mineral deposits of the Wadi an Nuqumi quadrangle, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 72-176, 18 leaves :ill. Northward-trending belts of granitic rocks and folded, layered metavolcanic and metasedimentary rocks of the Halaban Formation which they intrude represent the effects of the Halaban cycle. These older rocks are everywhere transected and deformed by northwestward- and northeastward-striking fractures and strike-slip faults and by eastward-striking fractures and fracture-controlled silicic dikes which belong to the Najd Wrench Fault deformation. \r\n\r\nSeveral kinds of epigenetic mineral deposits of hydrothermal origin are present throughout the Ash Shumta area. All occur in or ape closely associated with structures of the Najd Wrench Fault deformation. The mineralization which produced the deposits is thought to have taken place during the period of deformation which produced the Najd Wrench Fault structures. The hydrothermal deposits include many metalliferous quartz veins most of which occur in three mineralized areas: two major areas at Jabal Ash Shumta and Jabal El Khom in the northern half of the quadrangle and a minor area along Wadj al Boharah in the southeastern part of the quadrangle. \r\n\r\nThe metalliferous lodes possess the only economic potential in the area of the Jabal Ash Shumta quadrangle. These lodes consist mainly of gold and base metal-bearing quartz veins, some of which were mined for gold in ancient times. The mineralized area at Jabal Ash Shumta has the best of these veins. Higher temperature veins with wolframite as a major constituent and beryl as a minor one occur in a granite cupola in the eastern part of the El Khom area. These veins have altered, gneissen-like wall rocks. Although the grade of the veins is low at the surface, the made could increase at depth. The tungsten-bearing veins and El Khom area possess the greatest economic promise in the Jabal Ash Shumta quadrangle. The Connecticut River Valley from Middletown, Ct. north past the Connecticut-Massachusetts state line satisfied these two needs, and was favored by many early Americans in New England. This area remains an area of rapid urbanization, partly because of the broad flat lowlands. </p><p>The subdued topography of this area is due in large part to deposition of fine-grained materials into glacial Lake Hitchcock. This lake was formed during the Wisconsinan age when southward drainage in the Triassic valley of Connecticut was dammed by glacial drift in the area of Rocky Hill, Connecticut. Lake Hitchcock grew to and beyond St. Johnsbury, Vt. with much of the lake being filled with cyclical lake-bottom deposits during the 2,290 to 2,350 years of its life. </p><p>Aside from the relative flatness inherent in the deposition of fine-grained lake-bottom deposits, these deposits present very few characteristics that are favorable for urbanization. Favorable characteristics are possible sources of clay for manufacturing and possible sources&nbsp;for waste storage sites. Unfavorable characteristics include low water yields resulting in poor urban water-supply sources, and very low flows in streams during dry periods; low percolation rates resulting In drainage and septic problems; and low or uneven bearing strength which create problems in construction.&nbsp;</p><p>Fine-grained lake-bottom deposits have been mapped for six quadrangles in the Connecticut Valley lowlands; the quadrangles of Windsor Locks, Broad Brook, Hartford North, Manchester, Hartford South, and Glastonbury (all located in Connecticut). All the maps were prepared from existing information including well and test hole data on file at the Water Resources Division in Hartford, surficial geologic quadrangle maps, and bedrock contour maps. The maps also reflect geologic interpretations of the history of glacial Lake Hitchcock. </p><p>The Hartford North maps were prepared as test maps to determine if the project was feasible. They were prepared using the previously described information plus additional subsurface data obtained from engineering firms and the State Highway Department. </p><p>During preparation of the maps, an arcuate-shaped, ice-contact deposit composed of coarse sand and gravel was delineated in the Broad Brook and Windsor Locks quadrangles. This feature marks the location of a zone of stagnant ice In front of and marginal to active ice to the north. </p><p>Two types of maps were prepared for the area in study; Thickness of the Principal Clay Deposit, and Thickness of Material Overlying the Principal Clay Deposit. The term \"principal clay deposit\" refers to the fine-grained lake-bottom deposits of Glacial Lake Hitchcock. These maps define the distribution of the deposit, and show the thickness of the deposit in 50 foot intervals and the thickness of the material overlying the deposit In 20 foot intervals. The maps indicate that much of the area is underlain with substantial thicknesses of finegrained lake-bottom deposits (50 feet thick or greater), and that much of the deposit is within 20 feet of the surface. </p><p>The maps included in this report can be used for land-use planning. Uses include location of favorable sites for specific uses such as landfills, utility corridors, heavy construction, etc; location of problem areas for specific land uses; identification of possible problems for specific areas; design and construction cost estimates; and prospecting for exploitable clay deposits. It Is suggested that, for effective planning, these maps be used together or in conjunction with other maps such as maps showing surface materials, depth to bedrock, depth to water table, and flood prone areas. </p>","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","doi":"10.3133/ofr72218","usgsCitation":"Langer, W.H., 1972, Clay deposits of the Connecticut River Valley, Connecticut: a special problem in land management: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 72-218, Report: vii, 39 leaves; 13 Plates: 22.43 x 30.27 inches or smaller, https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr72218.","productDescription":"Report: vii, 39 leaves; 13 Plates: 22.43 x 30.27 inches or smaller","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":354002,"rank":15,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-13.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":354001,"rank":14,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-12.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353997,"rank":10,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-8.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353989,"rank":2,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353995,"rank":8,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-6.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353998,"rank":11,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-9.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353990,"rank":3,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353991,"rank":4,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-2.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353992,"rank":5,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-3.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353993,"rank":6,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-4.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353994,"rank":7,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-5.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353996,"rank":9,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-7.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":353999,"rank":12,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-10.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":354000,"rank":13,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/plate-11.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":148239,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1972/0218/report-thumb.jpg"}],"scale":"24000","country":"United States","state":"Connecticut","otherGeospatial":"Connecticut River Valley","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -72.75,\n              41.625\n            ],\n            [\n              -72.5,\n              41.625\n            ],\n            [\n              -72.5,\n              42\n            ],\n            [\n              -72.75,\n              42\n            ],\n            [\n              -72.75,\n              41.625\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4abbe4b07f02db672b5f","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Langer, William H. blanger@usgs.gov","contributorId":1241,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Langer","given":"William","email":"blanger@usgs.gov","middleInitial":"H.","affiliations":[{"id":387,"text":"Mineral Resources Program","active":true,"usgs":true}],"preferred":false,"id":169716,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1}]}}
