No evidence for the accumulation of anthropogenic trace metals was found at the 51 locations sampled in this study. Trace metal concentrations generally correlate with the concentration of fine-grained sediment. No seasonal variability in trace metals was observed. A digital model calibrated to conditions in Clear Creek was used to develop alternatives for future waste loadings that would be compatible with Indiana stream water-quality standards defined for two critical hydrologic conditions, summer and winter low flows.</p><p>The Winston Thomas wastewater-treatment facility is the only point-source waste load affecting the modeled segment of Clear Creek. A new wastewater-treatment facility under construction at Dillman Road (river mile 23.78) will replace the Winston Thomas wastewater-treatment facility (river mile 16.96) in 1980.</p><p>Natural streamflow during the summer and annual 7-day, 10-year low flows are zero, so no benefit from dilution is provided.</p><p>The model indicates that ammonia-nitrogen toxicity is the most significant factor affecting the stream water quality during summer and winter low flows. The ammonia-nitrogen concentration of the wastewater effluent exceeds the maximum total ammonia-nitrogen concentrations of 2.5 milligrams per liter for summer months (June through August) and 4.0 milligrams per liter for winter months (November through March) required for Indiana streams.</p><p>Nitrification, benthic-oxygen demand, and algal respiration were the most significant factors affecting the dissolved-oxygen concentration in Clear Creek during the model calibration. Data from each sediment station and reservoir represented at least 7 years of sediment discharge in the plains area or 4 years of sediment discharge in the mountainous area. Results of the analysis show the approximate relations of sediment yield to basin characteristics in the plains area, but data for the mountainous area are insufficient to show any significant relation.</p><p>In the plains area the sediment yield was most closely related to contributing drainage area, mean streamflow, average thickness of loess, and average land slope. A regression equation, using these characteristics, estimates sediment yields with a standard error of +142 percent and -59 percent. (Algermissen, 1969) which have been recompiled and updated through 1977. &nbsp;The data have been reexamined and intensities assigned where none had been assigned before, on the basis of available data. &nbsp;Other intensity values were updated from new and additional data sources that were not available at the time of original compilation. &nbsp;Some epicenters were relocated on the basis of new information. &nbsp;The data shown in table 1 are estimates of the most accurate epicenter, magnitude, and intensity of each earthquake, on the basis of historical and current information. &nbsp;Some of the aftershocks from large earthquakes are listed but are incomplete in many instances, especially for ones that occurred before seismic instruments were in universal
