Most faults that approach or reach the seafloor cut strata that may be equivalent in age to the upper Yakataga Formation (Pliocene‐Pleistocene). Along several faults, the seafloor is vertically offset from 5 to 20 m. A few faults appear to cut Holocene sediments, but none of these shows displacement at the seafloor. Submarine slides or slumps have been found in two places in the OCS region: (1) seaward of the Malaspina Glacier and Icy Bay, an area of 1200 km<sup>2</sup> with a slope of less than 0.5°, and (2) across the entire span of the Copper river prodelta, an area of 1730 km<sup>2</sup>, having a slope of about 0.5°. Seismic profiles across these areas show disrupted reflectors and irregular topography commonly associated with submarine slides or slumps. Potential slide or slump areas have been delineated in areas of thick sediment accumulation and relatively steep slopes. These areas include (1) Kayak Trough, (2) parts of Hinchinbrook Entrance and Sea Valley, (3) parts of the outer shelf and upper slope between Kayak Island and Yakutat Bay, and (4) Bering Trough.","largerWorkType":{"id":2,"text":"Article"},"largerWorkTitle":"Marine Geotechnology","largerWorkSubtype":{"id":10,"text":"Journal Article"},"language":"English","publisher":"Taylor & Francis","publisherLocation":"Philadelphia, PA","doi":"10.1080/10641197709379784","usgsCitation":"Carlson, P.R., and Molnia, B.F., 1977, Submarine faults and slides on the continental shelf, northern Gulf of Alaska: Marine Geotechnology, v. 2, no. 1-4, p. 275-290, https://doi.org/10.1080/10641197709379784.","productDescription":"16 p.","startPage":"275","endPage":"290","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":267162,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"},{"id":267161,"type":{"id":10,"text":"Digital Object Identifier"},"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1080/10641197709379784"}],"country":"United States","state":"Alaska","otherGeospatial":"Gulf Of Alaska","geographicExtents":"{ \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\", \"features\": [ { \"type\": \"Feature\", \"properties\": {}, \"geometry\": { \"type\": \"Polygon\", \"coordinates\": [ [ [ 172.5,51.2 ], [ 172.5,71.4 ], [ -130.0,71.4 ], [ -130.0,51.2 ], [ 172.5,51.2 ] ] ] } } ] }","volume":"2","issue":"1-4","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"51177e06e4b0893acf3fffd4","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Carlson, Paul R.","contributorId":81469,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Carlson","given":"Paul","email":"","middleInitial":"R.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":473274,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Molnia, Bruce F. bmolnia@usgs.gov","contributorId":4002,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Molnia","given":"Bruce","email":"bmolnia@usgs.gov","middleInitial":"F.","affiliations":[{"id":410,"text":"National Center","active":false,"usgs":true}],"preferred":false,"id":473273,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

Precipitation in the basin averages about 8 inches annually. There is no surface outflow and all streams are ephemeral. Annual runoff averages about 0.09 inch. Because there is no sustained runoff, and flow is local and infrequent, reservoirs do not provide dependable water supplies. Ground-water recharge from precipitation in the basin is estimated to average 7,600 acre-feet annually. Discharge, principally by evapotranspiration, averages about 40,000 acre-feet annually. Subsurface inflow from adjacent areas is estimated to average about 32,000 acre-feet annually.","language":"English","publisher":"Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Rights","publisherLocation":"Salt Lake City, UT","collaboration":"Prepared by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Utah Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water Rights","usgsCitation":"Stephens, J., 1977, Hydrologic reconnaissance of the Tule Valley drainage basin, Juab and Millard Counties, Utah: Technical Publication 56, iv., 37 p.","productDescription":"iv., 37 p.","numberOfPages":"43","costCenters":[{"id":610,"text":"Utah Water Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":267167,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"},{"id":331950,"rank":3,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://waterrights.utah.gov/docSys/v920/w920/w920009i.pdf"},{"id":331949,"rank":2,"type":{"id":15,"text":"Index Page"},"url":"https://www.waterrights.utah.gov/cgi-bin/libview.exe?Modinfo=Viewpub&LIBNUM=20-5-390"}],"country":"United States","state":"Utah","county":"Juab County, Millard County","otherGeospatial":"Tule Valley Basin","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -113.78265380859374,\n              38.805470223177466\n            ],\n            [\n              -113.78265380859374,\n              39.69239407904182\n            ],\n            [\n              -113.32122802734375,\n              39.69239407904182\n            ],\n            [\n              -113.32122802734375,\n              38.805470223177466\n            ],\n            [\n              -113.78265380859374,\n              38.805470223177466\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"51177e02e4b0893acf3fffbf","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Stephens, J.C.","contributorId":74010,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Stephens","given":"J.C.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":473279,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1}]}}

Development of monosex (all female) grass carp at the Fish Farming Experimental Station by the technique of artificial gynogenesis (Stanley et al. 1975) enabled us to observe survival to the large fingersling stage under several stocking densities and pond conditions. These limited observations, made incidentally to other studies, may provide clues for the development of management techniques to reduce mortality. Monosex fry were used in these observations, but there is no reason to suppose that survival of bisexual fry would have been different.","largerWorkType":{"id":2,"text":"Article"},"largerWorkTitle":"Progressive Fish-Culturist","largerWorkSubtype":{"id":10,"text":"Journal Article"},"language":"English","publisher":"Taylor & Francis","publisherLocation":"Philadelphia, PA","doi":"10.1577/1548-8659(1977)39[184:SOMGCI]2.0.CO;2","collaboration":"None","usgsCitation":"Thomas, A., and Carter, R.R., 1977, Survival of monosex grass carp in small ponds: Progressive Fish-Culturist, v. 39, no. 4, p. 184-184, https://doi.org/10.1577/1548-8659(1977)39[184:SOMGCI]2.0.CO;2.","productDescription":"1 p.","startPage":"184","endPage":"184","numberOfPages":"1","costCenters":[{"id":365,"text":"Leetown Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":258424,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"},{"id":258420,"rank":9999,"type":{"id":10,"text":"Digital Object Identifier"},"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1577/1548-8659(1977)39[184:SOMGCI]2.0.CO;2","linkFileType":{"id":5,"text":"html"}}],"volume":"39","issue":"4","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"505ba2d5e4b08c986b31f9c4","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Thomas, A.E.","contributorId":27002,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Thomas","given":"A.E.","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":355555,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Carter, Ray R.","contributorId":36879,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Carter","given":"Ray","middleInitial":"R.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":355556,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

Those advantages include support for a long-term staff plan that recognizes substantial staff changes through system development and implementation, a fiscal plan that provides continuity in resources necessary for total system development, and a feedback system which allows the user to communicate his experiences in using the system. Thus far balance between system development and system production has not been achieved because of continuing large-scale spatial data processing requirements coupled with strong and insistent demands from users for immediately deliverable products from the system. That imbalance has refocussed staffing and fiscal plans from long-term system development to short- and near-term production requirements, continuously extends total system development time, and increases the possibility that later system development may reduce the usefulness of current interim products.","language":"English","publisher":"UlS. When Dick arrived NCIC consisted of 4 briefing books and an interesting concept. 3 years later we have 10 books and a thriving organization. We shall miss him. This issue contains what we hope is an interesting collection of cartographic news, including articles about recent Federal mapping agreements, new publication announcements, notes on the second NCIC coordinating conference, and a cumulative index for the spring 1975 to summer 1977 issues.","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","publisherLocation":"Reston, VA","doi":"10.3133/70039592","usgsCitation":"Water Resources Division, U.S. Geological Survey, 1977, National Cartographic Information Center Newsletter No. 6: Newsletter 6, 16 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/70039592.","productDescription":"16 p.","numberOfPages":"18","costCenters":[{"id":409,"text":"National Cartographic Information Center","active":false,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":261117,"rank":800,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/unnumbered/70039592/report.pdf"},{"id":261118,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/unnumbered/70039592/report-thumb.jpg"}],"noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"505a619ee4b0c8380cd71a83","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Water Resources Division, U.S. Geological Survey","contributorId":128075,"corporation":true,"usgs":false,"organization":"Water Resources Division, U.S. Geological Survey","id":535384,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1}]}}
