(fig. 1), as part of its program of strategic minerals investigations.&nbsp; This work was done by the writer and supervised by D. F. Hewett.&nbsp; John Rodgers and W. R. This radioactivity\nis most apparent near the contacts of the igneous and metamorphic rocks where the average range of equivalent\nuranium content is estimated to be 0.003-0.004 percent. Pegmatites contain as much as 0. 043 percent\nuranium and 0.62 percent thorium.
