The rocks that crop out or that have been encountered in wells drilled in the area are all sedimentary and range in age from Pennsylvanian to Upper Cretaceous. Mesozoic strata are especially well represented. (See page X.) Each of the parts deals with one of eight sections into which the State has been divided for this purpose and which have been designated northeastern, northwestern, southeastern, southwestern, central, east-central, south-central, and west-central Missouri. In each part descriptions of the points for which geodetic positions have been determined are listed according to the quadrangles in which the points occur.
