A. Stimson (Florida Naturalist, 35: 93, 1962). Bulbuls were present in Kendall, just south of Miami, in the spring of 1961, and apparently raised young there that summer. In the fall of that year, bulbuls were also seen in the vicinity of Princeton, approximately 35 miles southwest of Miami. Confirmation of nesting at Kendall was presented in 1962 (Aud. Field Notes, 16: 402, 1962). By 1964 the population of bulbuls in Kendall was estimated at 40 to 50 (Aud. Field Notes, 18: 349, 1964)

In Leucocytozoon infections, death occurs as early as the first or second week of the bird's life. As a conclusion to this presentation, I wish to emphasize that there are many gaps in our knowledge of these parasites and that the answers are to be obtained by further studies in the young birds. Data obtained from studies of birds shot by hunters or from specimens taken during fall or winter banding operations can be expected to be far less rewarding and significanf than studies of goslings and ducklings. We need much more knowledge of these parasites and their vectors and other relationships before we can develop management procedures to combat or contain them. It will require many more studies in depth to achieve this goal, but the facts are there waiting to be uncovered. All of the 15 ducks dosed with lead died. Twenty-seven percent of 15 dosed with alloy, and 20 percent of 15 dosed with zinc also died. Ten of the remaining zinc-dosed ducks showed signs of distress, including losses of muscular control and body weight. There were no deaths among 15 ducks dosed with nickel, 15 dosed with teflon-coated steel, and 15 dosed with tin. Seventy-three percent of those dosed with nickel shot eliminated all shot before the end of the 30-day period. Acid-fast intranuclear inclusion bodies were present in the kidneys of mallards dosed with commercial lead shot, or with tin-lead alloy shot, but not in the kidneys of birds given nickel, tin, or teflon-coated steel shot. Atypical, pale, acid-fast bodies were found in kidneys of 1 of 15 birds dosed with zinc. An iron-containing pigment, which stained positive with the Prussian blue technique, was present in variable amounts in almost all livers. Zinc-dosed ducks that died or were killed while still showing signs of zinc intoxication had higher iron levels in the liver than ducks that had recovered from zinc intoxication.

The county is in the Atlantic Coastal Plain physiographic province, has moderate temperatures and a dependable rainfall of 44 inches per year. The area is attracting new industries and additional population. Water usage is increasing with this economic growth; 26 mgd (million gallons per day) of ground water were used in 1960.
\nThe Raritan and Magothy Formations are the most prolific producers, but the Cohansey Sand and Kirkwood Formation have a great and, as yet, untapped potential. Small to moderately large supplies have been obtained from other aquifers. The maximum average potential recharge to the ground-water reservoirs is estimated to be about 790 mgd. Presently, most of it is rejected because the aquifers are essentially full. On this basis, it is believed that ground-water supplies in Burlington County are sufficient for the foreseeable future. However, well spacing must be planned to avoid local overdevelopment.
