A small amount is used in the manufacture of beverages. Total ground-water pumpage in Newark is estimated at not less than 20,000,000 gallons daily.
\n
\n
The Newark area is underlain by formations of Recent, Pleistocene and Triassic age, and the geology and hydrologic properties of these formations are discussed. Attention is called to the important influence of a buried valley in the rock floor beneath the Newark area on the yield of wells located within it. Data on the fluctuation of the water levels and the variation in pumpage are presented, and their significance discussed. The results of a pumping test made during the investigation were inconclusive. The beneficial results of artificially recharging the aquifers in one part of the area are described.
\n
\n
The intrusion of salt water into certain parts of the ground-water body is described and graphically portrayed by a map showing the chloride concentration of the ground water in various parts of the City. Insofar as available data permit, the chemical quality of the ground water is discussed and records are given of the ground-water temperatures in various parts of the City.
\n
\n
There has been marked lowering of the water table in the eastern part of the area, accompanied by salt water intrusion, indicating that the safe yield of the formations in this part of Newark has probably been exceeded. It is recommended that the study of the ground-water resources of this area be continued, and that artificial recharging of the aquifers be increased over as wide an area as possible.
","language":"English","publisher":"New Jersey Deptartment of Conservation and Economic Development, Division of Water Policy and Supply","collaboration":"Prepared in cooperation with the United States Department of the Interior Geological Survey","usgsCitation":"Herpers, H., and Barksdale, H.C., 1951, Preliminary report on the geology and ground-water supply of the Newark, New Jersey, area: Special Report (New Jersey Division of Water Policy and Supply) 10, 52 p.","productDescription":"52 p.","numberOfPages":"53","additionalOnlineFiles":"N","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":282811,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/70094973.jpg"},{"id":284824,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/unnumbered/70094973/report.pdf"}],"country":"United States","state":"New Jersey","city":"Newark","geographicExtents":"{ \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\", \"features\": [ { \"type\": \"Feature\", \"properties\": {}, \"geometry\": { \"type\": \"Polygon\", \"coordinates\": [ [ [ -74.251324,40.673903 ], [ -74.251324,40.788139 ], [ -74.112787,40.788139 ], [ -74.112787,40.673903 ], [ -74.251324,40.673903 ] ] ] } } ] }","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"53559529e4b0120853e8c156","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Herpers, Henry","contributorId":8378,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Herpers","given":"Henry","email":"","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":491013,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Barksdale, Henry C.","contributorId":11463,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Barksdale","given":"Henry","email":"","middleInitial":"C.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":491014,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

These annual reports are a means of more promptly releasing for administrative use the data collected each year. Data that are included in the annual reports for a given area will be assembled later in a report on the geology and hydrology of that area. An index of the data collected and presented in the 1947, 1948, and 1949 reports is given in table 1.
","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","doi":"10.3133/ofr5055","collaboration":"Compiled in cooperation with the State Geological Survey of Kansas, the Division of Sanitation of the Kansas State Board of Health, and the Division of Water Resources of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture.","usgsCitation":"Berry, D.W., 1950, Ground-water data collected in the Missouri River basin units in Kansas during 1949: U.S. Geological Survey Open-File Report 50-55, iii, 121 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/ofr5055.","productDescription":"iii, 121 p.","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":288709,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/usgs_thumb.jpg"},{"id":288708,"rank":2,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/1950/0055/report.pdf","text":"Report","size":"36.25 MB","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"},"description":"Report"}],"country":"United States","state":"Kansas","otherGeospatial":"Missouri River Basin","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -102.030029296875,\n              38.44498466889473\n            ],\n            [\n              -97.415771484375,\n              38.44498466889473\n            ],\n            [\n              -97.415771484375,\n              40.002371935876475\n            ],\n            [\n              -102.030029296875,\n              40.002371935876475\n            ],\n            [\n              -102.030029296875,\n              38.44498466889473\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4aafe4b07f02db66cfe9","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Berry, Delmar W.","contributorId":25107,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Berry","given":"Delmar","email":"","middleInitial":"W.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":246261,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1}]}}

Z. Columbia, Superintendent of the Ambridge Water Works, the United States Geological Survey conducted a \"pumping test\" in the Ambridge well field on November 10, 1949. As used in this report, \"pumping test\" means pumping a well at a fixed rate to determine the hydrologic properties of the water-bearing formation. By measuring the decline and recovery of water level in the pumped well and in other observation wells the necessary information is obtained for computing these properties.
\n
\n
Such procedures are part of the field activities of the ground-water program in Pennsylvania being sponsored jointly by the Pennsylvania Topographic and Geologic Survey and the United States Geological Survey.
\n
\n
The amount of water that can be pumped from an underground formation depends upon its ability to transmit water to a well and upon the amount of water that is released from storage when the water table or pressure head is lowered. The first is measured by the coefficient of transmissibility and the second by the coefficient of storage. The area ranges in altitude from 1,620 to 2,275 feet and locally has strong relief. \r\n\r\nThe floor of the Heart River Valley is underlain by alluvial deposits of Quaternary age. In the westernmost part of the areas the Fort Union formation of Paleocene (Tertiary) age forms the valley sides, but in a downstream direction the Cannonball and Ludlow formations, here undifferentiated, also of Paleocene age, crop out in the valley sides and underlie progressively broader areas of the upland surface. The Hell Creek formation of Upper Cretaceous age appears above stream level only in the stretch of the valley between the center of T. 136 N., R. 85 W., and the northeastern part of T.. 137 N., R. 84 W. Glacial Drift, which once covered the whole area, now has been almost entirely removed by erosion except for .scattered boulders on the uplands. The Cannonball and Ludlow unit and the Fort Union formation yield, moderate supplies of ground water, and the river alluvium yields more abundant supplies. At the present rate of withdrawal and with normal precipitation there is little danger of seriously depleting the supply. In 1946 the average depth to water in observation wells in the Heart River Valley was 19 feet, whereas the depth to water in observation wells in the upland averaged 30 feet. \r\n\r\nThe Dickinson area is small and is about 45 miles upstream from the Heart River irrigation project. Ground-water levels in the Dickinson municipal well field have declined considerably within recent years, but the impounding of Heart River water is expected to insure a more adequate water supply for the town. \r\n\r\nSamples of ground water from four wells in the lower Heart River Valley were analyzed to determine the present mineral character of the waters in this region. Waters from shallow and deep wells in the Dickinson area were analyzed to assist in determining the practicability of further utilization of ground water as a public supply. A map showing areas of the least-mineralized ground water in the Dickinson area is presented and the need of further exploratory work is discussed.","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","doi":"10.3133/cir34","usgsCitation":"Tychsen, P.C., and Swenson, H.A., 1950, Geology and ground-water hydrology of the Heart River irrigation project and the Dickinson area, North Dakota: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 34, Report: iv, 59 p.; 1 Plate: 22.28 × 15.82 inches, https://doi.org/10.3133/cir34.","productDescription":"Report: iv, 59 p.; 1 Plate: 22.28 × 15.82 inches","costCenters":[{"id":478,"text":"North Dakota Water Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true},{"id":34685,"text":"Dakota Water Science Center","active":true,"usgs":true}],"links":[{"id":391361,"rank":4,"type":{"id":36,"text":"NGMDB Index Page"},"url":"https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/Prodesc/proddesc_23658.htm"},{"id":30357,"rank":400,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1950/0034/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":30358,"rank":300,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1950/0034/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":124596,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1950/0034/report-thumb.jpg"}],"country":"United States","state":"North Dakota","otherGeospatial":"Dickinson area","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -101.967,\n              46.878\n            ],\n            [\n              -100.806,\n              46.878\n            ],\n            [\n              -100.806,\n              46.522\n            ],\n            [\n              -101.967,\n              46.522\n            ],\n            [\n              -101.967,\n              46.878\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4b16e4b07f02db6a564c","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Tychsen, Paul C.","contributorId":82683,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Tychsen","given":"Paul","email":"","middleInitial":"C.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":146701,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Swenson, Herbert A.","contributorId":93461,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Swenson","given":"Herbert","email":"","middleInitial":"A.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":146702,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

The studies of the ground-water resources in the part of Kansas that lies within the basin have been coordinated with the cooperative program of ground-water studies already being carried on in Kansas by the Federal Geological Survey and the Kansas State Geological Survey with the cooperation of the Division of Sanitation of the Kansas State Board of health and the Division of Water Resources of the Kansas State Board of Agriculture.

Areas in which ground-water data have been collected under the Missouri Basin program include the Almena Unit in Norton and Phillips Counties; the Bostwick Unit in Jewell, Republic, and Cloud Counties; the Cedar Bluff Unit in Ellis and Trego Counties; the Glen Elder Unit in Mitchell County; the Kanopolis Unit in McPherson and Saline Counties; the Kirwin Unit in Phillips, Smith, and Osborne Counties; the St. Francis Unit in Cheyenne County; the Webster Unit in Osborne County; and the Wilson Unit in Lincoln County.

Most of the ground-water data presented in this report were collected during 1948. Most of the data collected in these areas prior to the end of 1947 were presented in a report mimeographed in September 1948. One is the frequency of recurrence for the observed distributions, and the other is the corresponding frequency of recurrence for the theoretical distributions of best‐fit. The former is usually required for the purpose of plotting observed data, and hence is called the “plotting positions,” a term used by Foster [1934, p. 1217]. They indicate one way to analyze and conveniently use the vast accumulation of stream‐flow records collected by governmental agencies as a tool for geophysical reconnaisance. To be usable as a method of geophysical prospecting for ground water, stream‐flow records must first be transformed into flow‐duration curves. Then, by means of the 90 per cent index, chosen by Cross, or other, more suitable indices, the ground‐water storage characteristics of the surficial deposits of drainage basins can readily be determined. Where there is good indication of extensive groundwater storage, it is probable that large supplies of ground water can be developed for use.
","language":"English","publisher":"American But these water-level readings, if not properly understood or weighted, may be entirely misleading. This is because water levels are neither stationary nor steadily rising (with recharge) or falling (with discharge). Water levels fluctuate as a result of several factors other than those of changes in recharge or discharge, chief among which are: (1) tides; (2) atmospheric pressure; (3) winds; (4) earthquakes; and (5) passing trains. Characteristically, artesian aquifers respond to these forces in a manner different from that of nonartesian aquifers, but in some places local geologic conditions in a nonartesian aquifer may cause water-level fluctuations ordinarily found only in artesian wells. Among the unusual features observed is a 4.5-foot fluctuation of water level in a Miami well caused by earthquake waves originating 750 miles away in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of the Dominican Republic. Quakes from all over the world are responsible for water-level fluctuations in this and other wells in the Miami area.
","language":"English","publisher":"Society of Economic Geologist","doi":"10.2113/gsecongeo.45.5.441","usgsCitation":"Parker, G., and Stringfield, V.T., 1950, Effects of earthquakes, trains tides, winds, and atmospheric pressure changes on water in the geologic formations of southern Florida: Economic Geology, v. 45, no. 5, p. 441-460, https://doi.org/10.2113/gsecongeo.45.5.441.","productDescription":"20 p.","startPage":"441","endPage":"460","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":379413,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/thumbnails/outside_thumb.jpg"}],"country":"United States","state":"Florida","otherGeospatial":"Southern Florida","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -82.85888671875,\n              24.16680208530324\n            ],\n            [\n              -79.6728515625,\n              24.16680208530324\n            ],\n            [\n              -79.6728515625,\n              27.235094607795503\n            ],\n            [\n              -82.85888671875,\n              27.235094607795503\n            ],\n            [\n              -82.85888671875,\n              24.16680208530324\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","volume":"45","issue":"5","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationDate":"1950-08-01","publicationStatus":"PW","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Parker, Garald G.","contributorId":106880,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Parker","given":"Garald G.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":801729,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Stringfield, Victor Timothy","contributorId":93485,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Stringfield","given":"Victor","email":"","middleInitial":"Timothy","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":801730,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

Dak. The terrace deposits are composed of relatively permeable sands and gravels that rest on a shale bedrock platform. The terrace surfaces are mantled in part by slope wash derived from higher shale slopes and by wind-blown sand. Ground water occurs under water-table conditions in the river alluvium and in terraces above the river. Although the zone of saturation in the terrace deposits is 6enerally thin, it is essentially continuous in the area southeast of the river, and the water issues as springs in the terrace faces along the inner valley of the river and along the valleys of tributary streams cuttin6 back into the terraces. A zone of saturation is present only in part of the Harrison Plat area, and it extends to the terrace face only along Cottonwood Creek. Wells in the unconsolidated mantle rock supply water for domestic and stock purposes, but yields are small. Abundant supplies of artesian water are available at depths ranging up to 3,000 feet but are not now utilized except at the extreme western end of the area where the bedrock aquifer is close below the surface. The effect of applying irrigation water on the terrace lands will depend on the character of the underlying material and on the measures taken to forestall waterlogging and other undesirable effects. Terrace areas that are mantled by slope wash will be especially susceptible to waterlogging, as will valley-bottom areas mantled by colluvium that are adjacent to irrigated terracea. Periodic measurements of water levels in observation wells will give warning of potential waterlogging in time to permit taking preventive measures. Analyses of samples of both ground water and surface water indicate a high mineral content. In general, samples from the Cheyenne River are higher in total dissolved solids and lower in percent sodium than the ground water.
","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","doi":"10.3133/cir54","usgsCitation":"Littleton, R.T., and Swenson, H.A., 1949, Geology and ground-water hydrology of the Angostura irrigation project, South Dakota, with a section on the mineral quality of the waters: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 54, Report: v, 96 p.; 2 Plates: 25.96 x 1.52 inches and 26.39 x 11.83 inches, https://doi.org/10.3133/cir54.","productDescription":"Report: v, 96 p.; 2 Plates: 25.96 x 1.52 inches and 26.39 x 11.83 inches","onlineOnly":"N","additionalOnlineFiles":"N","costCenters":[],"links":[{"id":30776,"rank":400,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1949/0054/plate-1.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":30777,"rank":401,"type":{"id":17,"text":"Plate"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1949/0054/plate-2.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":30778,"rank":300,"type":{"id":11,"text":"Document"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1949/0054/report.pdf","linkFileType":{"id":1,"text":"pdf"}},{"id":124472,"rank":0,"type":{"id":24,"text":"Thumbnail"},"url":"https://pubs.usgs.gov/circ/1949/0054/report-thumb.jpg"}],"country":"United States","state":"South Dakota","geographicExtents":"{\n  \"type\": \"FeatureCollection\",\n  \"features\": [\n    {\n      \"type\": \"Feature\",\n      \"properties\": {},\n      \"geometry\": {\n        \"type\": \"Polygon\",\n        \"coordinates\": [\n          [\n            [\n              -103.4307861328125,\n              43.34315755514772\n            ],\n            [\n              -103.4307861328125,\n              43.536104967254566\n            ],\n            [\n              -103.04008483886717,\n              43.536104967254566\n            ],\n            [\n              -103.04008483886717,\n              43.34315755514772\n            ],\n            [\n              -103.4307861328125,\n              43.34315755514772\n            ]\n          ]\n        ]\n      }\n    }\n  ]\n}","noUsgsAuthors":false,"publicationStatus":"PW","scienceBaseUri":"4f4e4ad6e4b07f02db6841fe","contributors":{"authors":[{"text":"Littleton, Robert T.","contributorId":34496,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Littleton","given":"Robert","email":"","middleInitial":"T.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":147477,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":1},{"text":"Swenson, Herbert A.","contributorId":93461,"corporation":false,"usgs":true,"family":"Swenson","given":"Herbert","email":"","middleInitial":"A.","affiliations":[],"preferred":false,"id":147478,"contributorType":{"id":1,"text":"Authors"},"rank":2}]}}

Likewise, the future development of the area is dependent on the wise use of this important resource. The current investigation, on which this report is based, is a necessary step in the planning for the greatest ultimate utilization of the water resources in the lower Platte River Valley.

The area covered by this study is the floor of the lower Platte River Valley between North Platte and Fremont and embraces about 2,500 square miles. The entire valley floor is underlain by unconsolidated Pleistocene sediments which consist of clay, silt, sand and gravel and range in thickness from less than 20 feet to nearly 200 feet. Westward from Cozad these sediments were deposited in a valley entrenched in bedrock, but east of Cozad they are continuous with similar deposits which underlie the adjacent uplands. Bedrock formations of Tertiary age are in contact with the basal Pleistocene sediments from the west end of the area to about Central City. From Central City eastward, formations of Cretaceous age immediately underlie the Pleistocene deposits.

The Pleistocene sediments and underlying pervious formations are water saturated below depths which range from less than 1 foot to about 90 feet below the surface. In general, the configuration of the water table is similar to the topography of the land surface, but the relief on the water table is considerably less by comparison. Movement of ground water is either toward the river or parallel to it. Based on present information, movement of ground water out of the valley is not indicated but additional water-level control is needed south of the valley between Grand Island and Columbus to determine the possibility of ground-water loss in this stretch of the valley.

Periodic observations of water-table fluctuations have constituted an important phase of ground-water studies in the lower Platte River Valley. Examination of water-level data collected by the Geological Survey in cooperation with the Conservation and Survey Division of the University of Nebraska indicates that water levels throughout most of the valley between Gothenburg and Grand Island declined during the 9-year period, December 1930 to December 1939. The maximum net declines observed during this period were a little greater than 4 feet. During the period December 1939 to December 1946, water levels recovered throughout much of the same area; in local areas on the south side of the Platte River between North Platte and Overton water levels rose in excess of 10 feet as a result of seepage losses tram canals and irrigated lands. However, north of Wood River in western Hall County water levels continued to decline to the extent that in at least 3 observation wells water levels in December 1946 were more than 5 feet lower than in December 1930.

Water levels were measured monthly in 1946 and bimonthly in 1947 in observation wells located throughout the area covered by this report. During this period water levels fluctuated through a range of about 3 feet, the lowest levels being reached in September 1946 and the highest levels being reached in July 1947. Average fluctuations between successive measurements were a little less than 0.4 foot. The amount of ground-water discharge in the summer months of 1947 was approximately double that of the previous summer. However, replenishment to groundwater storage during the fall of 1946 and the spring of 1947 was sufficiently great that the amount of water in storage in the valley as a whole at the end of the 2-year period was essentially equal to the amount in storage at the beginning of the period. At the end of 1947 the Dawson and Buffalo County areas showed gains to storage whereas the remainder of the valley suffered vary slight losses during the same 2 years.

The quantity of ground water that a water-bearing material will yield is dependent upon the hydrologic properties of the material. Two hydrologic properties of greatest importance are permeability and specific yield. During the course of the present investigation 5 pumping tests were conducted to determine the coefficients of permeability and storage of the Pleistocene deposits. The values of the former range from 955 to 4,925 and the latter tram 0.007. to 0.236 attar 24 hours of pumping.

The mineral character of the ground water has been determined from analyses of samples, of which 15 represented municipal supplies and 3 were irrigation waters. Ground waters analyzed for this report contained variable amounts of dissolved solids ranging from 240 to 1,060 parts per million, with hardness values above limits considered desirable tor public supplies. The increased concentration of dissolved solids for ground waters in the western part of the valley as a result of return flow conditions, is noted. Ground waters in the valley are discussed as to suitability for municipal and irrigation uses, and analyses of samples do not reveal any serious condition that would adversely affect the use of these waters for the purposes intended. As irrigation increases, periodic chemical analyses of ground waters in this area will be required to evaluate the effects of the re-use of drainage waters and to provide information for salinity control.

Ground-water supplies are drawn upon extensively for irrigation purposes, for municipal supplies, and for rural, domestic and stock supplies. Nearly 4,000 irrigation wells are known to exist in the area, the greatest concentrations of these being in Dawson, Buffalo, and Hall Counties.
","language":"English","publisher":"U.S. Geological Survey","doi":"10.3133/cir20","usgsCitation":"Waite, H.A., and Swenson, H.A., 1949, Progress report on the geology and ground-water hydrology of the lower Platte River Valley, Nebraska, with a section on the chemical quality of the ground water: U.S. Geological Survey Circular 20, Report: v, 211 p.; The studies on which the present report is bas2 were made during the field seasons of 1945, 1946 and 1947, to obtain information on the occurrence, movement, quantity, and quality of the ground water. The report contains data on the several kinds of water-bearing materials, water analyses, and well logs; the records of fluctuation of water level in about 400 wells; and an inventory of 4,636 wells and test holes.

Later studies for the whole of the Missouri-Souris Unit will supply additional data on ground-water levels and piezometric surfaces, more extensive information on quality of water, a complete inventory of wells, and further geologic information relating to ground-water supplies.
