Abstract:
The map area shown in Scientific Investigations Map 2840 is a composite of 18 individual quadrangle maps that represent a total area of 1,100 square nautical miles in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary region. The quadrangles are numbered 1 though 18, beginning in the southwest corner of the map region and increasing from left to right. The dimensions of the map area of each quadrangle are approximately 8 nm east-to-west and 7 nm north-to-south. The map region was subdivided into these 18 quadrangles so that high-resolution maps at a scale of 1:25,000 could be presented in both paper and digital format at a size convenient for the user.
