Northernmost Domes 22. Aerial view west-southwest across the upper part of Medicine Lake volcano toward Mount Shasta. Treeless lava domes in foreground are "domes 6 to 10", the northernmost domes of the 950-year-old rhyolite of Glass Mountain fissure eruption (map unit rgm). In the center of the photograph, the northern flow of the 12,320-year-old rhyolite of the Hofmann flows (map unit rh) drapes the northeastern slope of Mount Hoffman (unit rmh). The peak of Mount Hoffman is the highest point on Medicine Lake volcano at 7,913 ft (2,412 m). It can be seen directly below Mount Shasta. Photograph by Julie M. Donnelly-Nolan. |
