The map is the result of a detailed compilation and synthesis at 5 million scale and is part of a major international collaborative study of the Mineral Resources, Metallogenesis, and Tectonics of Northeast Asia conducted from 1997 through 2002 by geologists from earth science agencies and universities in Russia, Mongolia, Northeastern China, South Korea, Japan, and the USA. The Geodynamics map of Northeast Asia dataset includes the following shapefiles: nagm_5M_poly.shp: map unit polygons nagm_5M_lines.shp: linework representing faults, terrane boundaries nagm_5M_points.shp: point locations representing structural features, igneous and metamorphic features Purpose: This report is one of a series of reports on the mineral resources, geodynamics, and metallogenesis of Northeast Asia. Supplemental_Information: The original digital dataset was included, along with other theme data, in the U.S. Geological Survey publication OF2006-1150. In that publication, the Geodynamics map data was presented as approximately 60 individual shapefiles. To make the dataset more readily useable, in this publication, many of those shapefiles have been combined. The geologic polygon theme layers, originaly presented as individual shapefiles, have here been combined into one polygon and one line shapefile. Overlaps and gaps between adjacent polygons have been removed and descriptive data has been joined to the added shapefile attribute table.
