This dataset depicts a color shaded relief representation of the state, in which the first 30 feet of relief above mean sea level are displayed as brightly colored 5-foot elevation bands (refer to legend file "SIM3047_elevation_FL.pdf"). These data are designed to support U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) disaster preparedness efforts and are meant to be used at a broad scale and for informational purposes only. These individual-quadrangle DEMs were then converted to spherical coordinates (latitude/longitude decimal degrees) and edge-matched to ensure seamlessness. The NED source data for this dataset consists of a mixture of 30-meter- and 10-meter-resolution DEMs. Process_Date: 2000-2005 Process_Step: Process_Description: The NED data were downloaded from http://seamless.usgs.gov in 2004 and processed in 2005. These data were then projected into UTM Zone 17 NAD83 at 30-meter horizontal resolution. Process_Date: 2005 Process_Step: Process_Description: The 30-meter UTM elevation grid was resampled to 90-meter resolution. Process_Date: 2005 Process_Step: Process_Description: The 90-meter elevation grid was SLICEd into elevation color ranges using a remap table and a color file. Process_Date: 2005-2006 Process_Step: Process_Description: The three individual red, green, and blue color-relief grids were combined into one grid stack for ease of use in ArcGIS.
