Note to database users

This database conforms to the GeMS (NCGMP09 revised) database schema described in documents available at https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/Info/standards/NCGMP09/

There are 3 versions of the database:

SIM3384-gdb.zip
---------------
Geologic map data in an ESRI file geodatabase, with associated files. Package contains
	* SIM3384.gdb	Vector geologic map data
	* SIM3384Base.gdb  Vector basemap data, provided as a 
		convenience to the user, not reviewed for accuracy 
		or ease of use
	* SIM3384.mxd	ArcMap map composition document that recreates 
		published map
	* Resources		Folder that contains
		* USGS Symbol2.style   ESRI Style file for map symbols 

Note that the published map graphic has a shaded-relief base calculated from high-resolution lidar digital elevation model (DEM). The lidar DEM is not included in this package, as it is quite voluminous. An equivalent DEM may be obtained from the Washington Lidar Portal at http://lidarportal.dnr.wa.gov/ 

SIM3384-simple.zip
------------------
A translation of most features in the geodatabase into relatively easy-to-use shapefiles. If you cannot use the ESRI file geodatabase version, try this version of the data. 

SIM3384-open.zip
----------------
A complete translation of the features in the geodatabase into shapefiles and comma-delimited text files. Provided as a vendor-agnostic, effectively-open, version of the data that should be readable far into the future. Most people will find this difficult to use.
