Description:
Abstract:
The copper-silver mineralized-domain dataset, rev_cuag, contains three types of data: mineralized domain, untested exploration area, and permissive tracts. Mineralized domains are the areas underlain by stratabound copper-silver mineralization that are delimited by surface exposures and drill-hole information. Mineralized domains occur at 30 of the 57 sites listed in table 1 of the text . Mineralized domains are divided for the purposes of this report into three categories: identified resources, indicated mineralized rock, and inferred mineralized rock. The untested exploration area represents the surface and subsurface areas of the Revett Formation to a depth of 8,000 ft. The subsurface extent of the Revett Formation was estimated from the extent of surface outcrops (Boleneus and others, 2001a), from the amount of dip of strata of the Revett Formation, and from the presence of known or inferred faults that could truncate the formation at depth. The permissive and nonpermissive tracts are based on analysis of the untested exploration area and the mineral zone datasets.
Purpose:
This dataset was developed to provide geospatial GIS for use in future spatial analysis by a variety of users. This database is not meant to be used or displayed at any scale larger than 1:48,000 (for example, 1:24,000 or 1:12,000).
Supplemental_Information:
This GIS database consists of a polygon file (rev_cuag) containing copper-silver mineralized domains.

Dave Boleneus (USGS), with assistance from Larry Appelgate, hand drew lines representing copper-silver mineralized domains on several 1:48,000 paper topo sheets. Mary H. Carlson (contractor) digitized, edited the linework, and attributed the polygons.

Attribute_Accuracy_Report:
Attribute accuracy was verified by manual comparison of the source with hard copy printouts and plots.
Logical_Consistency_Report:
Polygon and chain-node topology present. Segments making up the outer and inner boundaries of a polygon tie end-to-end to completely enclose the area. Line segments are a set of sequentially numbered coordinate pairs. No duplicate features exist nor duplicate points in a data string. Intersecting lines are separated into individual line segments at the point of intersection. All nodes are represented by a single coordinate pair, which indicates the beginning or end of a line segment.
Completeness_Report: This dataset is complete.

Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy:
Horizontal_Positional_Accuracy_Report:
The horizontal positional accuracy for the digital data is no better than 72 meters.

These images are georeferenced TIFF's of the unpublished paper maps of the Revett Formation which were used to show the extent of the untested exploration area by projecting the strike and dip of outcropping Revett Formation. This source is included only as a reference as the original paper maps were not published.

Process_Description:
David E. Boleneus and Larry Appelgate interpreted the location of copper-silver mineralized domains and drew their interpretations on paper topo sheets. The interpretations were based on drill hole data which form boundaries of mineralized domains. Mary H. Carlson digitized the polygons and attributed them.

Process_Description:
Permissive tracts are subdomains within the untested exploration area that include 1) all mineralized domains and 2) areas that are within 2 miles of rocks with PY-CAL alteration assemblages. The PY-CAL polygons from the datasets lrevzone and urevzone were merged and extended with a 2 mile buffer. The boundaries of this expanded polygon that were within the untested exploration area and within 2 miles of the CP-ANK/PY-CAL boundary in the datasets lrevzone and urevzone were selected to initially represent the permissive tract. The permissive tract boundaries were then adjusted to eliminate slivers and to include all mineralized domains.
