Abstract:
These databases of the Revett Formation makes available to the geographic information systems (GIS) community a large body of geospatial data. The Revett Formation hosts the giant Rock Creek and Montanaore (Rock Lake) copper-silver deposits in the western Montana copper belt.
Purpose:
The purpose of this compilation is to provide a geospatial frame of reference for the Revett Formation and to provide essential datasets necessary to understand the geology of the formation. The spatially-referenced digital data in this report are provided in a UTM zone 11 map projection and can be used to create a basic geographic information system (GIS) for the Revett Formation. This information should facilitate research on the formation and provide background material needed to explore mineral resources and to develop sound land-management policy. Several metadata files (listed in the individual "Supplemental_Information" entries) more completely describe the individual geospatial datasets in this compilation.
Supplemental_Information:
rev48k.htm (metadata record) describes rev48k.e00, an ArcInfo dataset that contains contacts, faults, and map units of the Revett Formation. The geology was derived by digitizing the Revett Formation from paper maps.

rev_ddh.htm (metadata record) describes rev_ddh.e00, an ArcInfo dataset that contains 40 diamond drill holes and 1 measured section site (represending a vertical section at depth) in the Revett Formation. The drill holes and measured section were derived by digitizing from paper maps.

rev_msec.htm (metadata record) describes rev_msec.e00, an ArcInfo dataset that contains 87 measured section sites in the Revett Formation. The measured sections were derived by digitizing from paper maps.

rev_cuag.htm (metadata record) describes rev_cuag.e00, an ArcInfo dataset that contains copper-silver mineralized domains in the Revett Formation. The mineralized domains were derived by digitizing the interpretations of extensive exploratory and drilling activities at several mines, deposits or occurrence sites in the Revett Formation.

lrevzone.htm (metadata record) describes lrevzone.e00, an ArcInfo dataset that contains oxidation-reduction boundaries and mineral zone areas of the lower member of the Revett Formation. The alteration mineral assemblages were determined by examining mineralogic data from 126 measured sections and diamond drill holes.

urevzone.htm (metadata record) describes urevzone.e00, an ArcInfo dataset that contains oxidation-reduction boundaries and mineral zone areas of the upper member of the Revett Formation. The alteration mineral assemblages were determined by examining mineralogic data from 126 measured sections and diamond drill holes.

cuag_deposit.htm (metadata record) describes cuag_deposit.txt, tab-delimited text document with over 50 data fields (for example, site name, county, deposit type) describing 57 copper-silver deposits, occurrences or prospects.

lith_log.htm (metadata record) describes the 126 spreadsheets (xls) that contain lithologic data of measured sections and diamond drill holes presented in 4 worksheets: lithology, formation, minerals and collar.
