Steve Ludington, USGS, Scientist Emeriti EASIA_pCu_Deposits_prospects vector digital data Mineral resource assessments provide a synthesis of available information about the distribution of mineral deposits in the Earth's crust. A probabilistic mineral resource assessment of undiscovered resources in porphyry copper deposits in China, eastern Mongolia, and eastern Russia was done as part of a global mineral resource assessment. The assessment was conducted using a three-part form of mineral resource assessment based on mineral deposit models (Singer, 1993). Refer to the accompanying mineral resource assessment report for additional details. This shapefile represents the locations and attributes of porphyry copper deposits and significant prospects compiled for the porphyry copper assessment. The digital data are provided as a shapefile (ESRI ArcMap version 9.3). To: (1) delineate permissive areas (tracts) where undiscovered porphyry copper deposits may occur within the upper 1 km of the Earth's crust; (2) provide a database of known porphyry copper deposits and significant prospects; (3) estimate numbers of undiscovered deposits within those permissive tracts; and (4) provide probabilistic estimates of amounts of copper (Cu), molybdenum (Mo), gold (Au), and silver (Ag) that could be contained in undiscovered deposits for each permissive tract None planned 91.975800 131.333844 53.790945 23.804001 None mineral resources None This spatial database is not meant to be used or displayed at any scale larger than 1:1,000,000 (for example, 1:500,000). Coded_ID Coded, unique identifier assigned to permissive tract Coded, unique identifier assigned to permissive tract GMRAP Tract_name Informal name of permissive tract containing this deposit or prospect. GMRAP NAME Site name GMRAP NAME_OTHER Other names used for the site GMRAP INCLUDES Names of deposits that have been combined with the primary deposit as a result of the spatial aggregation rule used for calculating grades and tonnages. For porphyry copper, the spatial rule is 2 km. GMRAP SITESTATUS Development status of the site. Values are "deposit" or "prospect". Deposit means the site has both tonnage and grade reported for the principal commodity (Cu for porphyry copper). Prospect applies to all other sites. GMRAP deposit "deposit" is used if both Cu tonnage and grade have been reported for the site. GMRAP prospect "prospect" is used if site tonnage and grade information is not available. GMRAP occurrence "occurrence" refers to sites that have been mentioned in the report text, but do not meet the definition of deposit or prospect. GMRAP CODE_CNTRY 2-letter country code International Organization for Standardization(ISO)3166 Country Country(countries) in which deposit or prospect is located GMRAP STATE_PROV State or province GMRAP LATITUDE Latitude in decimal degrees. -90.000 to 90.000. Negative south of the equator. GMRAP LONGITUDE Longitude in decimal degrees. -180.000 to 180.000. Negative east of the Greenwich meridian. GMRAP AGE_MA Ages are reported in millions of years before the present based on reported absolute ages. This field is blank if no absolute age determination was available. GMRAP Depo_Type Porphyry Cu applies to most sites. Porphyry Cu, skarn-related applies to sites where most of the ore is skarn. Porphyry Mo-Cu applies to a class of deposits with low Cu grades and with Mo and Cu grades subequal. GMRAP Depo_Subty For the porphyry copper type, deposits and prospects may be classified as the general type or a subtype may specified in the reference cited. Subtype may be based on ratio of Au (in g/t) to Mo in (wt.%) or may be based on geologic indications. Two subtypes may be entered if the the deposit meets the criteria for both. GMRAP AGE_METHOD Method for absolute age determination GMRAP AGE_REF Short reference for age information. Inference means the age assignment was subjective, based on geologic inference GMRAP Strat_age Stratigraphic age of deposit GMRAP COMM_MAJOR Major commodities, expressed as chemical symbols GMRAP COMM_MINOR Minor commodities (byproducts, coproducts), expressed as chemical symbols GMRAP TONNAGE_MT Tonnage in millions of metric tons. GMRAP CU_PCT Average copper grade in weight percent. GMRAP MO_PCT Average molybdenum grade in weight percent.
