03097550 MAHONING RIVER AT OHIO EDISON POWER PLANT AT NILES, OHIO LOCATION.--Lat 41010'21", long 80045'26", Trumbull County, Hydrologic Unit 05030103, on right bank 20 ft downstream from Conrail Spur Line, 100 ft downstream from Meander Creek, 0.2 mi upstream from Belmont Road, 0.4 mi downstream from Mosquito Creek in Niles. DRAINAGE AREA.--854 mi2. PERIOD OF RECORD.--October 1987 to current year. GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 843.08 ft above sea level. REMARKS.--Records fair. Water diverted upstream from station for municipal supply for cities of Niles, Warren, and Youngstown. Some sewage returned to river upstream from station. Water also diverted upstream and downstream from station for industrial use, some of which is returned to river upstream from station. Flow regulated by Berlin Lake, 37 mi upstream, beginning in 1942, by Milton Reservoir, 29 mi upstream, by Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir, 32 mi upstream on West Branch, beginning in 1966 by Mosquito Creek Lake, 11 mi upstream, beginning in 1943, by Meander Creek Reservoir.
