04195500 PORTAGE RIVER AT WOODVILLE, OHIO LOCATION.--Lat 41026'58", long 83021'41", in sec. 28, T.6 N., R.13 E., Sandusky County, Hydrologic Unit 04100010, on left bank at upstream side of bridge on U. S. Highway 20 in Woodville, 600 ft downstream from unnamed right bank tributary, and 10.3 mi upstream from Sugar Creek. DRAINAGE AREA.--428 mi2. PERIOD OF RECORD.--July 1928 to December 1935, October 1939 to current year. REVISED RECORDS.--WSP 894: 1929-30. WSP 1207: 1933. WSP 1387: 1931, 1933. WSP 1912: Drainage area. GAGE.--Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 614.75 ft above sea level. Prior to Oct. 8, 1933, nonrecording gage, Oct. 9, 1933, to Dec. 30, 1935, water-stage recorder, Oct. 17 to Nov. 29, 1939, nonrecording gage, all at same site and datum. REMARKS.--Records good except for periods of estimated record, which are poor. Flow supplemented by water imported from Maumee River Basin for municipal supply for city of Bowling Green 16 mi upstream. The importation of this water began Sept. 1, 1951. Water-quality data collected at this site 800 ft downstream. Sediment data collected at this site. National Weather Service gage height telemeter at station. EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--Flood in March 1913 reached a stage of 17 ft, from information by local residents; discharge, 17,000 ft3/s, from rating curve extended above 11,500 ft3/s.
