LOCATION.-- Lat 41°16'40", long. 89°23'00" (NAD of 1927), in SE1/4SW1/4 sec. 18, T. 15 N., R.10 E., Bureau County, Hydrologic Unit 07130001, near center of span on downstream side of bridge on State Highway 29, 1 mi southwest of Bureau and 2.2 mi downstream from East Bureau Creek.

 

DRAINAGE AREA.-- 481 mi2.

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE

 

DISCHARGE: October 1940 to September 1951.

 

GAGE.-- Wire-weight gage and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 449.22 ft above NGVD of 1929 (Corps of Engineers bench mark).

 

REMARKS.-- Records include leakage from Illinois and Mississippi Canal above gage.

 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 18,000 ft3/s July 9, 1951, gage height 13.00 ft; maximum gage height, 13.10 ft Feb. 19, 1951 (backwater from ice); minimum discharge observed, 23 ft3/s Feb, 8-15, Oct. 31, Nov. 1, 1948.

 

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: A stage of about 13 ft occured sometime during spring of 1921.
