LOCATION.-- Lat 40°40'04", long 89°34'40" (NAD of 1927), in SW1/4NW1/4 sec.33, T.26 N., R.4 W., Tazewell County, Hydrologic Unit 07130001, on left bank 30 ft upstream from Main Street Bridge in East Peoria, 300 ft downstream from Coal Creek, 400 ft upstream from Peoria and Pekin Union Railway bridge, 1,300 ft upstream from entrance to Farm Creek diversion channel, and at mile 1.4.

 

DRAINAGE AREA.-- 61.2 mi2.

DISCHARGE: May 1943 to September 1943, November 1943 to October 1980.

 

REVISED RECORDS.-- WSP 1508: 1945, 1956(M). WDR IL-75: Drainage area.

 

GAGE.-- Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 450.39 ft above NGVD of 1929 (Corps of Engineers bench mark). Prior to July 31, 1945, nonrecording gage at site 400 ft downstream at same datum. July 31, 1945, to Sept. 2, 1948, nonrecording gage at site 30 ft downstream at same datum.

 

REMARKS.-- High flow regulated by Farmdale and Fondulac Dams beginning in September 1950.

 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 22,000 ft3/s Apr. 29, 1947, gage height, 15.00 ft, from rating curve extended above 4,200 ft3/s (on basis of velocity-area studies and slope-area measurement of peak flow); no flow for many days in most years.

 

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: A stage of about 15.6 ft, present site, occured in 1927, from information by Corps of Engineers.
