LOCATION.-- Lat. 40°51'30", long 90°20'57" (NAD of 1927), in NE1/4 sec. 14, T.10N., R.1 E., Knox County, Hydrologic Unit 07130005, on left bank of outlet channel below spillway of Lake Bracken, 3 miles above the mouth of Brunk Creek, and 6 miles south of Galesburg.

 

DRAINAGE AREA.-- 9.14 mi2.

DISCHARGE: April 1932 to September 1958. Monthly discharge and rainfall for April 1932 to September 1958 published in WSP 805, 825, 855, 875, 895, 895, 925, 955, 975, 1005, 1035, 1055, 1085, 1115, 1145, 1175, 1208, 1238, 1278, 1338, 1388, 1438, 1508, 1558.

 

GAGE.-- Water-stage recorder and V-notch weir. Datum of gage is 697.60 ft above mean sea level, adjustment of 1912 (levels by Illinois State Water Survey).

 

REMARKS.-- Flow regulated by Lake Bracken (area at level of crest of lake spillway, 700 ft above mean sea level, 184 acres). Records adjusted for change in contents, leakage from lake around outlet channel as determined from readings on lake gage, and pumpage, but not for evaporation and seepage losses.

 

EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--

SURFACE-WATER DISCHARGE AND STAGE: Maximum discharge, 680 ft3/s, July 22, 1951, gage height, 2.92 ft; no flow at times in most years.
