This is the README file for animations in AVI format from 1958 through 2049 resulting from three projected ground-water withdrawal scenarios of the Mississippi River Valley alluvial aquifer ground-water flow model documented in U.S. Geological Survey Water-Resources Investigations Report 03-4232: Recalibration of a Ground-Water Flow Model of the Mississippi River Valley Alluvial Aquifer in Southeastern Arkansas, 1918-1998, with Simulations of Hydraulic Heads Caused by Projected Ground-Water Withdrawals through 2049 By Gregory P. Stanton and Brian R. Clark A PDF file format of the report is available on the compact disc (CD). The animations contained on the CD were created using Tecplot version 9.2-0-3 for MS-WINDOWS Copyright(c) 1988-2002 Amtec Engineering, Inc. Hydraulic head data for the animations were read from the HDS output file from MODFLOW-2000 and reformatted using code written with the Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 editor within Microsoft Access 2000 (9.0.2720) Copyright (c) 1992-1999. Animations included on the CD consist of: sc1.avi - stress period 10 (1997) withdrawals extended through 2049. sc2.avi - Water-Use Trend with 1.25 times 2000 withdrawal rate limit extended through 2049 sc3.avi - Water-Use Trend with 10 Percent Reduction extended through 2049 sc1_oblq.avi - Oblique view of sc1.avi sc2_oblq.avi - Oblique view of sc2.avi sc3_oblq.avi - Oblique view of sc3.avi The CD should open automatically when inserted on most Windows machines. To view manually load "OpenMe.html" into browser. Viewing of AVI files and HTML documents may vary widely depending on variables such as operating systems and user preferences. Preference settings in some browsers may cause a related mail client or previously loaded HTML document to become active instead of the enclosed OpenMe.html. This action requires the user to open a browser and specifically load "OpenMe.html" by either "FILE > OPEN" or "drag and drop". In other cases, when viewing animations, the AVI may be embedded in the browser. This requires user interaction with a single mouse click on the image to invoke the animation. Other browsers may spawn applications such as Windows Media Player that will automatically play the animation.
