DOLOSTONE

A marly dolostone, sample 80MW0013 contains dolomite, plagioclase, magnesite, and calcite veins. Texturally, this rock is characterized by a matrix of microcrystalline material with zones showing an almost glass-like swirl microstructure. Calcite veins are up to 0.3 cm thick, and in some places are offset by minor faults/deformation bands. This rock is interpreted as a lithified fault gouge material.
