GRASSBED RESTORATION

The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation participates in a program with the US Environmental Protection Agency, Region VI, called the Johnston Basin Cleanup Program. These funds are used for on-the-ground restoration. One example of this program is a joint effort with University of New Orleans researchers and the Foundation to restore and study the lake's submerged aquatic vegetation, also called grassbeds.
