These digital GIS layers were compiled with ArcInfo software. The files are volcano hazard map data available as ArcInfo coverages and shapefiles. ArcInfo-compatible GIS software is required to use the files. The files are stored in a single zipped folder (rainier98_coverages.zip or rainier98_shapefiles.zip) in this release for ease of transfer. The scale of the source map limits the spatial resolution (scale) of the files to 1:100,000 or smaller. Available ArcInfo coverages and shapefiles are described below:

case1	Inundation zone for Case 1 lahars (lines, polygons)
case2	Inundation zone for Case 2 lahars (lines, polygons)
case3	Inundation zone for Case 3 lahars (lines, polygons)
postlahars	Post-lahar sedimentation (lines, polygons)
pyroclastic	Pyroclastic-Flow Hazard Zone (lines, polygons)

Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata are available for the digital files in text format.
