Example of selected fields from Station Data Table (spreadsheet format). Numbers for the columns refer to field number in complete data dictionary. Redundancy is accepted when it serves operational needs. For example, latitude is given both as decimal latitude, field 7, and as degrees, minutes and seconds in fields 8, 9, and 10. (In the full database, longitude is treated similarly). For brevity, sample depth (59) is referred to here as a single number; the full data dictionary provides for two fields, to define top and bottom of sample from a core. Note that descriptive text may be wrapped within a given field. Descriptive text is placed within the body of a table close to applicable data rather in separate files, to minimize chances of its loss when data are transferred.
