DIGITAL DATA

The digital data can be viewed in three different formats:

Adobe Acrobat Portable Document Format (2.8-MB PDF)

If you do not have Acrobat Reader 4 installed on your computer, you can download it from the Adobe web site (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html). Acrobat Reader 3 does not support the large page size of this map (60 by 36 inches). For fastest performance, it is suggested that you copy the file to your hard drive.

The Adobe Acrobat PDF file is a map of the COAL-BEARING REGIONS AND STRUCTURAL SEDIMENTARY BASINS OF CHINA AND ADJACENT SEAS. The map contains the coal-bearing regions and the structural sedimentary basins, which are shown by their geologic age. The coal fields are displayed by the rank of the coal. China's major coal mine production is represented by the millions of metric tons of coal extracted from each location per year. Quaternary peat, oil shale, and coal gas are the other commodities shown on the map.

ESRI ArcView SHP files

The ESRI ArcView SHP files are the coverages of coal-bearing regions, coal fields, structural sedimentary basins, major coal mine production, and other commodities in China. These SHP files are contained in the ZIP files as well as their corresponding AVL files. The AVL file is an ArcView legend file which will make the legends in ArcView appear the same as what is shown on the china_coal PDF map.

ESRI ARC/INFO e00 files

The ESRI ARC/INFO e00 files are export files of the coverages for coal-bearing regions, coal fields, structural sedimentary basins, major coal mine production, and other commodities in China.
