HYDROCHLORIC ACID STEP

HYDROCHLORIC ACID STEP
Materials Required: Hydrochloric acid preparation materials
Add 5mL of HCl to each Teflon tube using 10mL pipet. Pipetting into tube

Loosely cap tube and swirl by hand.

*Cap loosely to allow organic vapors to escape during the treatment process.

Swirling sample in tube

Let sit 1-3 hours until reaction is completed.

*This allows time for the reaction to go to completion.
The HCl reacts with the sediment and removes the carbonates.

*Refer to JHA before starting each process for further personal protection and potential hazards.

Proceed to centrifuge step.
