HYDROGEN PEROXIDE STEP

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE STEP
Materials Required: Hydrogen Peroxide preparation materials
Using a 10mL pipet, add 5mL of H2O2 to each Teflon tube which contains the 0.05g of sediment previously weighed. Pipetting into tube

Loosely cap tube and swirl by hand.

*Cap loosely to allow organic vapors to escape during the treatment process.

Swirling sample in tube

Let samples sit overnight.

*This allows time for the reaction to go to completion.
The H2O2 reacts with the sediment and removes the organics.

*Refer to JHA before starting each process for further personal protection and potential hazards.

Proceed to Hydrochloric Acid step.
