SODIUM CARBONATE STEP
Materials Required:
  • 2M Sodium Carbonate (Na2CO3)
  • Centrifuge Tubes containing sediment
  • 10 mL Pipet
  • 2 Decimal Place Balance
  • Holding Container (for centrifuge tubes)
  • Gloves
 Sodium Carbonate preparation; link to larger image
Place Teflon tube on balance and tare. Tare tube on balance
Add 30 mL of 2M Na2CO3 from 10mL pipet. Pipet sodium carbonate into tube

Obtain weight of liquid added.

 Weigh liquid
Remove tube and tare. Tare beaker

Obtain weight of tube and cap.

Proceed to Sonicator step.

 Weigh tube with cap
